The World Is Waiting For An Answer: Are We Americans Or Human Beings?

What’s happening is hopeful. It means that even when people are deluged daily by the most relentless and sophisticated propaganda system in the world, they can see clearly the issues, see clearly what’s at stake, and take action. full article: http://www.commondreams.org/views05/0321-26.htm

How interesting and refreshingly new...yet another AMERICAN item of note (though not to them) as the focal point of a CANADIAN forum...igloos get a bit boring towards the end of winter, Dudley Do Right rescued Nell from Snidley Whiplashes train tracks eons ago, alas...we've run out of original Canadian thought, and so the search for something/someone else of more significance continues I suppose...someday we will discuss US and OUR issues and not America's business in this country...on that day we will BE a country at last...can I hang on long enough??? Christ...maybe I should sign up for that free government heroin program over in Vancouver and just stay stoned until it happens...somebody come get me when it does, okay? Peace...

I could not agree more, like it or not our destiny is linked to the global village, and more particuarly the US. Even if the Multinationals and Intergration supporters do not get their way, we will still be deeply afected by US polocy. We must support, encourage and listen to those of our negbours who have similar concerns.<br />

Sir, Having just read your article "The world is waiting for an answer" as posted at The Vive le Canada forum <a href="http://www.vivelecanada.ca/article.php/20050321233637334">http://www.vivelecanada.ca/article.php/20050321233637334</a> I felt compelled to contact you and say how refreshing it was to see such a thoughtful article from the American point of view that mirrors the thoughts of many of us north of the border. I do hope that you find the time to visit the above forum where others with a greater grasp of the issues have expressed their views with great clarity and supporting documentation. You will find some rather "anti American" feel to some of the comments, but I believe that this is aimed not at the people but the political regime and corporate greed. I am sure that any comments you may have in regard to these issues from an American point of view would be received with great interest.<br />

And I quote yet another self-righteous Canadian echoing that famous line from the land of the great baby seal slaughter...imitating the lines of the endearingly original French Whine (wine?), "we don't hate YOU (directed to/at the average working, family supporting honest American who bears the majority of the cost of caring for the world's needy both in their own blood and their own money)...we just hate your government"...typically stated while burning an American flag somewhere to draw desperately wanted attention to themselves...here it is..from YOUR post...

"You will find some rather "anti American" feel to some of the comments, but I believe that this is aimed not at the people but the political regime and corporate greed."

The government of America is OF the people, FOR the people, and BY the people...OWNED by the people...and PROTECTED by the people. It IS the people. When you attack their government you are attacking them. And that's how it is perceived by them. As Canadians we can't relate as we have no "ownership" of our own government. They have a democracy, and we do not. To unfairly tell this person from America that no one in Canada means any harm to America/Americans...just their "government" is simply a lie. Canadians are quite well aware that if we support those in the world either morally, or financially that hurt Americans it is the average American family that suffers, not George Bush. It's someone's son, daughter, cousin, mother, father, sister, brother, or grandparent that dies or permanently loses body parts...it's not the ultra rich elite filling the ranks of their military that we harm, it's them. Those families (in the majority) who don't have fancy accountants and tax shelters, who work hard day in and day out to provide food, clothing, shelter, education, and some degree of PERSONAL SAFETY and sense of security to their loved ones are the ones sacrifing and paying in those tax dollars that go to all those wonderful aid programs around the world and pay to rebuild and make reparationsto the civilian populations who also suffered from an unnecessary war (probably wouldn't have happened had the world shown a murdering dictator a united front against genocide instead of allowing him to divide us all)in Iraq for example. Yeah, fellow Canucks...we sure showed Bush, now didn't we...how many of those rich oil Barons in uniform have been buried in Iraq along with all the Iraqi civilians...over 1,600 I believe so far...those guys and gals just COULDN'T be "average, ordinary Americans with families and bills to pay, now could they? Nope...must have been a huge gathering of oil tycoons, Corporate executives, and investment bankers...and the top level leaders of the republican party...and all wearing military uniforms, sleeping in tents (if lucky), and just having a little 'ol bit of "fun" playing "dodge the bullet", or "guess quick, is that car going to blow up?", or "was that an RPG I just saw firing at me...oh sh**"...and other great diversionary past times of the American rich and famous. Yup, by golly...us super smart Canadians are shore 'nuff gonna make them thar rich corporate, yankee, republican, fat cats pay or we'll just go bury our faces in a huge bowl of putine and pout. They should HAVE to eat our diseased beef too dammit all. It's good for those children to eat our diseased beef. It's ours after all, and everything about us is perfect...we wouldn't DREAM of trying to force any other country's innocents to eat tainted meat, but we want you evil Americans to feed it to your kids. And dadgummit, we're not going to participate in missile defence 'caue we want those missiles to hit George Bush, not YOU...if we see one headed for your kid' school Wednesday afternoon at 1 PM, we'll kindly tell it it's mistaken and needs to go find George Bush. See Americans? We ARE your friends. We don't hate YOU and we don't want YOUR demise...it's the demise of George Bush that we want. But...I guess if we have to sacrifice you to get him, then I guess we do. But don't worry about us too much folks...we're hardly a threat even if we wanted to be...just watch your backs with your enemies that we have been assisting in carrying out our wishes...just remember those bodies belong to oil barons and we're cool, okay? ;) ...

So...poor guy...maybe you should be honest with him and not try to bait him into our trap. You know aswell as everyone else in this country that it's not just their financial and political elitewe hate. We hate everybody here in Canada...we've become just like France now...we're a France Lite...a third less significant but every bit as hateful.

And we assume that Americans are actually believing our bullsh** line...even the ultra blue one's can see us for what we are. Get real.

I seriously doubt you are Canadian. You sound an awful lot like an American troll. If indeed by some accident you are canadian, report to the border and proceed south, anyone with as much contempt for Canada as you seem to have need not accept her hospitality further.

spoken with true new leftwing extremist Canadian hatefulness...I have been thinking about migrating south though I must admit, but I'm hoping people here might rediscover their hearts (and their souls) and keep Canada a warm and friendly place...people here have changed so much as to be almost unrecognizeable as what used to be known as "Canadian"...something I used to take great pride in. It appears as though I am vastly outnumbered by those like you here in my country, so you might have a good point. It's been considered. Many others I know are also considering it..actually that's not true...a handfull is a more appropriate term to describe the numbers of us here in Ottawa. You might just get what you wish for from us. Woo Hoo...(now it is going to run and tell it's one and only friend how it's activism made a difference for Canada, light up a big fat doobie, and go pee all over the side of some building somewhere...any takers on that bet? ;) )...

<i>I have been thinking about migrating south </i><p>Good idea anon. Maybe Martin and Bush could negotiate a "citizen's exchange program". I have many American liberal friends who would jump at this opportunity to move north to Canada. <p>---<br>« Il y a une belle, une terrible rationalité dans la décision d'être libre. » - Gérard Bergeron <br />

From one anon to another, I can't relate to your view of a changing Canada. I grew up an army brat, and my gift from my father to me was a UN flag. That's a large part of how I see Canada. As for the doobie and relieving myself on a building, that's just not me. I will get a handle before posting here again, it only to forge a separate identity from you.

Anon wrote: <i>we don't hate YOU (directed to/at the average working, family supporting honest American who bears the majority of the cost of caring for the world's needy both in their own blood and their own money)...</i><p> You have just made an important assessment of many Americans'vision of themselves in the the world, the erroneous belief that without them, the world would cease to exist. Young children have the same 'magical' thought about their lives. It is called the 'me' stage. <p> The world's needy have no need for America and other rich nations like it for them to survive. The opposite is true. If it wasn't for America and other rich nations' hold on the world's ressources and our increasing greed for more and more, the world's needy would stop 'surviving' and could start 'living'. At present, a majority of humans around the globe are poor BECAUSE a minority is rich. We are at cause here and we certainly are not part of the solution unless we wake up, change our ways and opt for sharing instead of confort, convenience and greed.<p>---<br>« Il y a une belle, une terrible rationalité dans la décision d'être libre. » - Gérard Bergeron <br />

one anon back to the other anon...yes, it would be wise to get an "identity" so as not to be confused with one such as me on this site. It appears as though the hate level here runs deep. For me in particular for not being a clone. I'm not revisiting this site, so don't be too concerned though. They will forget I (or anyone else like me)ever existed by tommorow. I would however recommend that unlike me, you keep your opinions to yourself unless they echo that of the half dozen or so "Canadians" that frequent this vampire cave. Freedom of speech is not encouraged here. What they want is reinforcement from others of their own pre-formed opinions. That's why the low numbers on the site. If you're an older Canadian it can be hard to believe, but they're real it appears. They say if you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen. I'm such a big wuss that I'm just going to run away screaming as fast as I can and pretend it was just a bad dream...
