New Conflict Allegations For Rock

Posted on Tuesday, October 14 at 23:39 by whelan costen
Rock, who was health minister at the time, contended he wasn't in a conflict of interest because Health Canada didn't have direct dealings with Irving businesses. He said that once he was appointed industry minister in January 2002, he reported the free vacation to federal ethics commissioner Howard Wilson and followed his advice about avoiding possible conflicts of interest. That advice included steering clear of Irving issues for a full year.

I think you should take note that Mr Rock belongs in a party structure and one of his fellow party members , just happen to be married to one of the Irving girls. Now you tell me that the party is not catering to the needs of this family, get it, family, party , what is the difference.
You can put Paul Martin in the same place as Rock, the Liberal Party are one family and the Leader is nothing more than King and all the rest are the little princes. Same goes for all of our political parties in Canada.
We the general public are their court clowns and boy do we make them laugh.
You call it a conflict of interest, I call it something that comes to those who are members of a political party and I might add all parties, are guilty of cronyism.
The only difference between royality and loyality is the letter R and we the common people, well I think you know the part we play in this mess.
Who do we put pressure on to have these types of thing investigated, the RCMP, really, who control the RCMP? The political party in power controls the RCMP of course, all one need to do is look back and reflect at what happened to all of the complaints around influnce peddling, they died and are now in file 13.
All I would like is for those of us who point to government for all the wrong that has been done in this country from free trade to how our tax infrastructure dollars are being wasted, remember it is all done buy a party. Government is our public service, it is the party that is destroying our infrastructure, it is the party that sells of our public infrastructure to their friends, not government. Government is we the people, when we complain , the governing party turns its back on us and does as the party wants. We lose they win.
We have the Alliance Party and the Tory Party trying to get together, so they can have their kick at the cat once more. This is nothing more than a push for power andcontrol of our government by another bunch of businessmen masquerading as our politicans. God help us if the Alliance Party get anymore power than they already have, we will not only have to worrie about census being turned over to the USA, Canada will be sold outright for a buck.
There is no loyality in our elected party members to Canada what so ever these days, we are in big trouble. Canada is up for grabs and our party system is not willing to defend our Canada.

Please excuse me for being so blunt, but I can`t help it when I learn more and more about how these politicians are nothing but a bunch of shameless whores! I mean, when I took my family to Ottawa to see the parliament buildings and all of the great museums, institutions, and historical sites, it just left me with an overwhelming feeling of pride and warmth. But these bottom feeding oppurtunists that call themselves politicians have no conscience or shame! You would think that once a person walks into the parliament buildings and sees the history and feels the aura, that person would be automatically inclined to do it right and ethically, without fraud and indifference to the dismantling of Canada! You would think that these politicians would be overwhelmed with a sense of duty toward the country! Nope! These greedy sociopaths would indeed, sell their mother if it meant making a hefty profit!! I honestly can`t understand how they live with themselves!!! Paul \'Sweatship \' Martin for P.M. - Just wonderful!

Well Dave, you see inside the walls of those parliament buildings, these so called elected members have imunity and that is why they can lie and shout to one another across the floor. One could say they are all good actors and might want to take off to Hollywood.
You feel proud when you are inside those buildings, well I feel shame, I am ashamed for they years I put into those parties,I feel shame for the money and time I gave then, but now that I have taken the time to reflect on the damage these parties have done to my country, never again shall I go near any of them.
My eyes have been opened and when I look at the damage the party system has done to Canada , I say down with political parties. I will vote only for the independent candidate and pray for a consensus government like they have in the NWT and Switzerland, democracy from the bottom up.
My feelings are much like yours,I am very upset that 2% of the population belong to a political party and it troubles me that these 2% have taken over our country. This must end!!

Hi, Wayne. Well, I am currently a member of the Canadian Action Party, because like you, I became fed up with the \'big 4\' political parites in this country. So, i thought it might be useful to choose an alternative party that at least on paper speaks my language! But please tell me, I must admit, I know little about the political process in countries like Switzerland. Do you see advantages to their system which is devoid of parties? Does this really make government more democratic from the bottom up? I`d like to learn more about this, because, the present system here, of course, doesn`t work, as you know. Are independents in government not just as prone to greed?

I am not an expert on this, independents, but it seems logical that if they are expected to represent their constituents rather than tow the party line, we might just get fair and equal representation. That being said, of course they could be subject to corruption, but it would be easier to detect as they wouldn\'t be able to hide behind a party. Each person would be responsible to us the people who elect them, accountability might reign and we would vote the individual out if they didn\'t represent us. Just a thought, as I too am interested in a no party system. Sounds a little too good to be true though, and I wonder how you would change it without electing a party to make the change? Details, details?

Well first of all, I think small first is best. What I mean by that, is start with the provinces. If we can educated enought people on why the party system is not working for them and impress upon some of citizens to run as independent candidates in their home province, it will work.

Take Nova Scotia for example, literally I mean , I really cannot think of one good reason why anyone would want it in its present state.
In Nova Scotia there are 52 ridings and that would mean 52 independent candidates can run, now lets say that down the road and by the grace of God we elected the majority of those candidates, that would mean they could form government, because now where in the Election Act does it say that one must belong to a party to become a member of the legislature.
So, it is possible to get the party out of our government. If you go to a search engine and put in Consensus Government+Switzerland or look up the Legislature of the North West Territories, you will get some idea on how a consensus government works.
Now all I am saying, is that these are two examples an intelligent group of Canadian citizens can us as a template to build from. It is time the citizens of Canadians told the present political parties we have had it with them stealing our government from us.

We have all read and heard about the deal Tory MP Peter MacKay cut with David Orchard and today we have all read about how that party stabbed David Orchard in the back and how Peter held the political knife, so if Peter will stab one of his very own members, then what in the hell will he do to those of us who are not party members?
Down with parties, do not give them your time or your money. As far as Paul Hellyer, Mel Hurtig and David Orchard go, it is time they all did the right thing and push for an independent consensus government, boys you cannot fix the parties structure, they are all to far gone and way out of control.

    Regards
    Wayne Coady
