"My grandfather and other passengers on that ship were jailed for at least two years," Toor said. "We are looking for the help of all our politicians.... An official apology we expect from the government."
Tejpal Singh Sandhu was at Monday's meeting representing his great-grandfather Gurdit Singh, who chartered the ship to travel from India to Canada.
Sandhu said the South Asian community in Canada must unite and come up with a common plan before entering into formal discussions with the government.

The current individuals were not discriminated against.
Those who were discriminated againt, have all passed away.
Those in government today did not discriminate.
Those in government in 1914 have all passed away.
A monument already exists on West Pender Street in downtown Vancouver about this unfortunate incident. I guess the Government of Canada apologized when that was dedicated.
Can (or should) everybody relive history forever, or are only some peoples (no names mentioned) allowed to do that?
If the former is true, I also have a grudge, and I want to show how ridiculous it can be: I feel a strong animosity against the Spaniards who overran the Netherlands in 1574, plundering and burning everything and killing many people, most likely also some of my direct ancestors and their kin. I believe I should be compensated or apologized to for what happened in those days.
Guess what? I am more civilized than that. I do not think the current King of Spain (or the government of Spain) needs to apologize. (In fact, the Dutch National Anthem even states: "I have always honoured the king of Spain.")
And that is how it should occur in British Columbia, today.

Expect little from life and get more from it.
This ruling is going to keep lawyers and courts busy for the next 200 years.
Because the Supreme Court of Canada has taken it upon itself to pass down rulings for which no law exists. Talk about make-work projects for the courts and picking the taxpayers pocket-again.

Sorry I missed that bit.
Suspect we have similar thoughts.

Not only was Canada fully within its right to defend its borders from invasion but it was free to keep Canada a European country. European Canada is obviously under attack as they want to sue the government for something predating WORLD WAR I (!!!) that happened to protect Canadians of European descent as the majority in this country.
The sense of entitlement and vicious hatred of Canada's majority is an exampled of the intense ethnic competition that occurs in the kind of multiracial society our elites have created.
Hilariously, India EVEN TODAY would not allow ONE immigration who is not an "ethnic Indian" yet they want to sue Canada for racist immigration policies that existed in another era--92 years ago. Never mind the fact that of course Britain and its colonies would not want the subjugated peoples to be living with them.
It has also been exposed that many of the people on the Komagata Maru schemed to get here by getting around the rules specifically created to prevent ships from travelling directly from India to Canada. They did so because they were wanted for terrorism charges IN INDIA, killed people while in Canada and after they were sent back broke laws in India as well. They were criminals.
I have to hear what the Saint thinks about this one as he has already talked about similar issues before.

The Vancouver Sun should be advised of this in polite but firm terms. "No way" should be the only answer; let's see where that gets us.
Why do we always have "bleeding heart" causes that crop up? History moves on. It is only in places like Ireland and the Balkans and Palestine where these century-old feuds continue to blow up. Did we not have enough Indo-Canadian feuds in BC?
Sikhs have a history of breakinng this country's immigration law culminating in the disastorous Singh decision of 1985 but I guess we can chalk that up to revenge. Now they want us to compensate them for breaking the law. Incredible. The sense of entitlement is strong with these ones.
