CBPA Supports The NDP

Posted on Tuesday, May 10 at 11:49 by gina
The CBPA believes the following that: Fair enterprise should be governed by fair and ethical business practices; Fair and free competition between business enterprises, both large and small is essential in a democracy; All workers must be treated with respect, and working unions are a vital part of our economy; People in every community need an adequate level of income to support small business prosperity; We must all support adequate social services for those less fortunate than ourselves; We have a duty to influence government policy in support of these objectives at the municipal, provincial and federal levels. Making a profit is not wrong. Failure to consider the needs of others in our communities is wrong. The CBPA will involve itself actively in the upcoming provincial election. We hope to help in as many constituencies as possible to bring home the message that many small businesses support the NDP. We also ask for your help to encourage businesses and professionals to join our association and assist us in the upcoming election campaign. Please distribute this letter to anyone you think would benefit from this information. They should do their homework - there is only one party running in the BC election with a platform specific catagory for small business. That is the Green Party who will among other things - lower their tax rate from 4.5% to 3% over three years, remove PST from any product sold that is made in BC, and help streamline the collection of PST to help save them money.

The NDP, DRBC, and Liberals have nary nothing to offer small business and all to a tee admit they will not lower their taxes.

I have respect for both Carol James and Adrian Carr. I think it is unproductive to speak in generalities about any party or to imply that any party will have all the answers. Carole seems to have a reputation as a bridge builder and I believe she will reach out to Adrian Carr and work with her to help the environment in practical terms. Carol James is a proven leader and I like that she isn't a foot deep and a mile wide. Everyone needs to be at the table (except maybe Gordo) and I think that's what will happen with Carole at the helm.
