US Reaction To Chinese Takeover Bid Of Unocal

[& Just why has Canada signed on to deals that make it illegal to block deals like this, for any reason? The Americans cite national security & Chinese control of oil assets in the gulf of mexico, etc, & meanwhile what has Canada done to stop takeovers of such things? -- NSay]

    I agree with N say's comment. This is going to cause a problem for the US because they are issuing promissory notes in exchange for tangible goods from China and not allowing the exchange of those notes for assets in an open market, while, at the same time, telling the world that assets should be for sale in an open world market. It looks slightly hypocritical. Perhaps the best thing to do would be to take UNOCAL off the open market and nationalize it for security reasons. :)
