BREAK THE SILENCE ON GAZA!

Posted on Monday, January 21 at 10:41 by Diogenes
The world community has denounced the government of 'Israel' for using its military for the purpose of collectively punishing the civilian population of the Gaza Strip, a clear war crime and violation of the 4th Geneva Conventions. The only power plant in Gaza was shut down today leaving the 1.5 million inhabitants without electricity, water, or any functional medical facilities. Palestinians continue to endure starvation, aerial bombings, US CIA interventions, and Israeli army brutality. This murderous endeavor has caused the deaths of hundreds of Palestinian civilians and the already fragile economy of Gaza has been decimated. NO FOOD, NO WATER, NO BREAD! We appeal to all people living in the US: SPEAK OUT TO DEMAND ONCE AND FOR ALL AN END TO THE SIEGE OF GAZA AND THE OCCUPATION OF ALL OF PALESTINE! What a farce. To every story, there are 2 sides. <br />
    <br />
    Google 'Rocket attack Sderot' and see for yourself. You'll get about 40,000 hits, of which no one apparently speaks.<br />
    <br />
    Here, here's a recent link:<br />

    Gaza also has a border with Egypt, and open coastline. Is there no help coming from them? Irony lies in that Hamas must depend on the state they refuse to acknowledge.<p>---<br>The preceding comment deals with mature subject matter, however immaturely presented. 'Gaza also has an open border with Egypt and an open Coastline'<br />
    <br />
    No they don't. Both are sealed off by the Israeli Army and Navy respectively. <br />

    'Google Sderot rocket attack...of which no one apperantely speaks'<br />
    <br />
    Don't know what you are listening to, but that's all I have been hearing the last week, the 'Palestinian rocket attacks' bla, bla on CBC, global CTV you name it.<br />
    A man hear what he wants to hear and disregards the rest...<br />
    <br />
    The other side of the story (there are indeed 2 sides) is that 'during this past week , Israeli military forces invaded civilian villages trapped within Gaza's closed borders with tanks, helicopters, warplanes and drones, massacring 39 and wounding over 100, including scores of unarmed children, babies and women.<br />
    <br />
    Israel says this is punishment for the homemade Qassam rockets fired this week toward Sderot. The total number of Israelis killed by these Qassams was zero.'<br />

    Seems like there is much propaganda on both sides. '39 massacared' seems only to be women and children on the Palestinian side, but '39 Hamas Soldiers' on the Israeli side. 70% of the electricity is still on in Gaza, as that power plant that is out of fuel only supplies 30% of the power there, but it's a 'complete blackout' on the Gaza side. (What's better, blackout or massacre? For once, I think the Israeis made a good choice).

    In both cases, the Israelis and Palestinians, appear to have exactly the government they elected.

    Sorry - forgot a couple of your points. First time I head about the rocket attacks in Canadian media was last night. No one had been playing that angle till then.

    "Israel says this is punishment for the homemade Qassam rockets fired this week toward Sderot. The total number of Israelis killed by these Qassams was zero.'"

    A happenstance of timing. The Qassams didn't care if they landed on a school or not, or if there was anyone in the school. They are a terror weapon, and just as Palestinians have a right to live in peace, so too do the residents of Sderot.

    Stop firing the rockets indiscriminately, and the aid and fuel will return.

    "Stop firing the rockets indiscriminately, and the aid and fuel will return.
    And discriminate rocketry will get ... what?
    that aside are you willing to make book on the return of aid?
    Some in Israel do acknowledge there are "illegal sttlements". Stop them for happening too, then.

    <br />
    At least a little respect. Choosing a military target over random civilian ones will garner some support.<br />
