NEW YORK -- A U.S.-Canada border stop is being investigated in connection with Thursday's bombing of a military recruiting centre in New York's Times Square.
ABC News says high-level law enforcement sources say the border stop has yielded evidence that may be linked to the case, and individuals are being sought in connection with the case. Canadian authorities declined to comment on the matter to ABC.
Sources say the border stop took place about a month ago, but U.S. and Canadian authorities are reviewing the incident because of circumstantial evidence noticed at the time and the behaviour of one of four individuals in the car that was stopped.
Law enforcement sources say one young man fled the vehicle on foot.
U.S. authorities are also trying to determine if there's a link between letters sent to Capitol Hill and the blast.
A congressional aide says the letters contain a photo of the recruiting office before it was bombed and a claim that says "We Did It.'' The manila envelopes also contained a photo of a man standing in front of the recruiting station.
The envelope also contained a packet of approximately 10 sheets of paper that seemed to be a political statement opposing the Iraq war and a booklet. A second aide says similar letters arrived in as many as 10 offices.
The letters are being investigated by Capitol Police, the FBI and U.S. Postal Inspection Service.

First Iranian innuendo, now Canada's "porous" border....what next?
Cannibis smoking "terrists" I figure.
Expect a ghost of Osama bin Laden video coming to YouTube soon.
Who in their right mind would admit to the crime in this fashion.
I told you it was coming, yes?
They don't expect to receive letters opposing the war? wow my lord

The senario would be something like: Canada's porous border allowed terrorists to cross into the United States with this fiendish device. Luckily though, Homeland Security interdicted the terrorists before they could make their way to a major population centre. However, when the terrorists realized the jig was up, they set off the nuc and the brave and valiant Homeland heroes were caught in the blast. Subsequently, and because of the threat to national security, the 2008 elections will have to be postponed, and the US military will, in accordance with the mutual agreement signed by the Harper government, be sent into Canada to hunt for the base of these fiendish devils.
Stay tuned for more news as it is manufactured............
The arrests came right after a big media blitz concerning "home grown terrorism" and other unfounded fear mongering, and only a few days after CSIS made public warnings about "homegrown terrorism" (somewhere around May 30 2006). The arrests also came after a similarly orchestrated media blitz in the UK, followed by arrests on the exact same day (June 2) of what were later shown to be two innocent men, one of which was shot by police during the botched raid but fortunately survived the brutal attack.
To me, it is crystal clear that the Toronto case is a government enacted plot designed to manufacture terrorists where none actually existed. No wonder there's a media blackout and a manipulation of normal trial proceedings.

Now it looks like the fuzzy image in a poor quality video is somehow linked to an NYC 'anarchist' group. Whatever that means. I guess 'anti-war' means 'anti-society' now. Too hard to keep up with the buzzwords.

Trial? I don't believe any of them actually got that far before charges were dropped. I could be wrong.
Many 'terrorists' go that route. Jose Padilla, for example.
What the government did, was to drop the usual preliminary trial hearing and go straight to trial (all charges were dropped, then new charges issued). Supposedly this legal maneuver is allowed but is highly unusual. So we're still waiting for the actual trial unless something that's not being reported on happened since.
