Obama's pastor says 'God damn America'

CHICAGO, March 13 (UPI) -- Democratic presidential hopeful Barack Obama's pastor has drawn increased scrutiny since the Illinois senator said his church is not controversial.

Obama's pastor, who has been the longtime leader of Trinity United Church of Christ in Chicago, says that blacks should not sing "God Bless America" but instead "God damn America," ABC News reported.

The Rev. Jeremiah Wright has also said the United States brought on the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks with its own "terrorism," ABC reported.

Just days after the Sept. 11 attacks, ABC reported that Wright said the U.S. government brought on the attacks.

"We bombed Hiroshima, we bombed Nagasaki, and we nuked far more than the thousands in New York and the Pentagon, and we never batted an eye," Wright said on Sept. 16, 2001.

ABC said it found that Wright regularly talks on the treatment of blacks.

"God damn America for treating our citizens as less than human. God damn America for as long as she acts like she is God and she is supreme," Wright said in a 2003 sermon.

Obama this month said, "I don't think my church is actually particularly controversial." As for the church's pastor, he said Wright is "like an old uncle who says things I don't always agree with."

Wright married Obama and his wife Michelle and baptized their two daughters, the report said.

"Taking the Lord's name in vain" is actually open to many possible interpretations beyond attaching the word "Damn" to it. One such possible vain use would be saying "Praise the Lord" ad nauseum.

The decision has been made. Smear Obama, deny him the ticket. Hillary is the chosen one.

And can someone point me to something this wacky preacher has said that is untrue? (other than perfectly allowable religious rantings like "Jezus is black", ect..)

It is unbelievable and frightening to me the degree to which Canadians are fawning over Obama and his speech (read comments at cbc.ca
    http://www.cbc.ca/news/reportsfromabroa ... l#comments )

Obama is a traitor to the truth.

Speaking of Pastor Wright's remarks he says, "... they expressed a profoundly distorted view of this country...". Are these views distorted? Watch the entire sermon and I am sure you will see that the Pastor's view is fundamentally grounded in truth.

"... a view that sees white racism as endemic... " White racism isn't endemic? Of course it is. From the day the first African slave arrived on the shores of America to this very day. White racism is endemic to the US and Canada.

"... and that elevates what is wrong with America above all that we know is right with America... ". Ask yourselves what IS right with America these days.

"... a view that sees the conflicts in the Middle East as rooted primarily in the actions of stalwart allies like Israel, instead of emanating from the perverse and hateful ideologies of radical Islam." There you have it. The only party responsible for conflict in the Middle East is radical Islam.

Such horrendous lies ought to be exposed and decried by every thinking person. There are more lies to be exposed in the Obama speech but I will leave them to you to discover.

"White racism isn't endemic? Of course it is."

A more accurate statement is that racism in general is a human condition expressed among all of humanity. Racism is *not* solely a condition of those who are of European decent. For example, look around at the world, and you'll see people of all nationalities doing inhuman things to their fellow man.

During the time of black slavery, the enterprising blacks happily rounded up their fellow man and sold them to the slavery trade for profit. What does that tell you about "Black racism"?

Statements that claim "whites" are the source of all evil are inherently racist, and that kind of racism is just as offensive and any other form of expressed racism. The irony is when it comes down to bashing "whites" as a race, the practice is seen as perfectly acceptable, even among whites themselves.

As for Obama, he's just another slime bag politician, so you cannot expect him to tell the truth about anything except when it'll help his pay masters with their hidden agenda.

The other day on CBC radio Hillary Clinton was being interviewed, and the observation I made while listening to this deranged woman, was that she was trying her hardest to appear to disagree with the obscene policies enacted by the now dwindling US Empire while not actually disagreeing with any of it. In her view, she'd just be much more effective at forcing her subjects to bow at her feet. Hilary is the other top contender for President of the United States, so what does that tell you about the state of the country in general?

We have in Canaduh edicts of political correctness that break through the boundries of common sense when it comes to the topic of racism, or rather, broad generalisations applied willy-nilly at the whims of many speakers.

I agree, in part, with the previous two posters and find it difficult to not speakout in reaction to what I see hear and read expressed by Canadians.
Iseems not so long ago on the prvious Vive there was a move to ban me for my non politically correct views. This Nation of Apologists has done as much to undermine critical thought as have those who work tirelessly to bring it about through legislation. As if more law would ever "solve" ignorance and stupidity.

"Man's inhumanity to man" is oft the cry. Race has little to do with it

    "Diogenes" said

Well I agree, it has more to do with profits than anything else. If you can use "race" as a means to whip up support to steal possessions from another group, or to use it to create cheap labor, then it will be done and many people will follow along if they think that they will benefit from the crime. We also see the same thing being used to generate support for wars, using religion as the made up excuse. We also see baseless fear being used for the same ends, even to the point of staging false flag operations to create the illusion of an external "enemy". The list of ways to get idiots to commit crimes so that the criminally rich may get criminally even richer is almost endless.

Even the "laws" made up to supposedly fight racism and other forms of abuse towards others are designed and enforced so that only the enforcing group may benefit over all the others, and these laws are designed so that advocating the murder against the people of other countries for the purpose of generating support for wars are conveniently exempt.
