Canada sorely needs better cross-border trade rules

Canada-U.S. efforts to resolve post-9/11 border problems plaguing North America's economy have fallen victim to conspiracy theories.

The Security and Prosperity Partnership, launched in 2005, is so misunderstood by the public and so discredited by opposition groups it should be relaunched and rebranded.

That's the view of Simon Fraser University political scientist Alexander Moens who has just completed a study of the SPP for the Fraser Institute.

His 25-page report comes three weeks before leaders of Canada, the U.S. and Mexico meet a fourth time to set direction for the wide-ranging trilateral project. The April 21 summit takes place in New Orleans.

"The Security and Prosperity Partnership, launched in 2005, is so misunderstood by the public and so discredited by ..."

... police dressed up in protester drag trying to incite violent riots during peaceful SPP protests.

Yeah sure, the SPP needs to be "rebranded" alright, but so does the government of Canada for its use of illegal activities against the Canadian people.

What does one expect from the Fraser Inst? They had books published, demanding the sale of all Crown lands, privatization of all services etc. etc. The author of the Crown Land book, Arnold Block, said on CBC radio that he would also sell all the lakes, rivers and even divide the oceans between corporations, as an "environmental protection measure". Adam Smith said so.

There was another one by a US "economics professor", promoting the sale and privatization of Canada Post. But his theory only covered cities. He was asked on BCTV at the time, how would rural people get their mail? He replied: "Well, they'll just have to move to the cities.........ha , ha, ha, ha", Laughing his stupid head off, but also proving the planned depopulation of the rural areas, also promoted by the same
    jerks.

Barbara Yaffe - there's your bootlicker right there. I recently exposed her as you will see if you search the forum. Hey Barb, do you actually believe the NWO cares about you? You're going to get ground up and spit out like the rest of your ilk.

    Boycott the whole Asper empire.

At the same time, the Asper owned Global TV Vancouver, has been surprisingly candid on a number of issues lately. That's the only channel we can watch, as we have no wish to have a dish and our whole daily TV time is about 40 mins of the 6 o'clock news, which is 80% junk, but gives us a bit of a contact. Never watch any other programs, as we can't stand the commercials.

But, as far their papers are concerned, friends sometimes bring and leave them here. Useful to light the fires with, unread.

Ed, just deleted the repeat post there since it was redundant.

The problem is of course that our (corporate) media reports everything the Fraser Institute says as "research", implying that they are impartial and scientific. And people also generally have very little awareness of how controlled our media is, with only a handful of companies owning them and calling the shots re what they print. So of course the viewpoint of the CEOs of the world is very well represented, because they pay to have it reported.

Yet too many people mistake it for actual unbiased news, and therefore, buy what they're selling, in this case the SPP.

Fault lays with the fooled to a higher degree than most will even consider

This stuff has been going on since the beginning of time and still works

    Caveat! Be aware!

    Wake TF UP!

and when I see fools buying into bull poo I give a heads up and you give me a time out and remove the politically incorrect to you

Caveat lector, "let the reader beware"
Caveat emptor, "let the buyer beware"
Caveat venditor, "let the seller beware"
Caveat bettor, "let the bettor beware"

You call the shots here. What the Ferk is the diff? The principle is the same!

The media has power only because ignorant fools believe the garbage they are selling.

Dio, the difference is that there is no corporation paying me to run the site, or paying for specific content to appear and other content not to appear by buying advertising on the site, or even the site itself. Yet that's the way conventional media works, and that's why when something (eg, the SPP) is backed by the CCCE and the CEOs of companies like Campbell's Soup and Wal-Mart, it gets glowing reports printed about it. Gotta make advertisers and media company owners happy.

Be not so quick to speak in your own defence on the "differnce" on this topic as it is the simularities that concern me. And yes, I am aware of ths "New' group.

There are far to many you havejumped on the politically correct bandwagon shouting down from power and or ignorance: lack of knowledge, the voices like mine who call for open investigation of disputed claims.
When emotional reactions trump reason all suffer.

It is a matter of record that I have had to reverse positions I've taken becuse I was simpley wrong and when I have come to that realisation I have, will and can be expected to do what is right and proper become a better person in the process.

Let them and their advertisers know why we are boycotting them.
