Commons Committee Meetings On Taser Use Closed To Public

Posted on Sunday, April 06 at 14:37 by C.M. Burns
Two days of meetings of the Public Safety Committee on the use of Tasers will not be open to the public. According to the CBC article, the meetings will not be tape-recorded but committee staff will take notes. The RCMP, border and airport officials will testify.

Why the secrecy? No reason has been given as to why meetings which are normally open to the public have been closed.

"The decision to hold private meetings was decided by the committee in advance, according to Conservative member Gary Breitkreuz, who said he was limited on what he could comment on."
