Under pressure from the toughest crackdown on illegal immigration in two decades, employers across the country are fighting back in state legislatures, the federal courts and city halls.
Business groups have resisted measures that would revoke the licenses of employers of illegal immigrants. They are proposing alternatives that would revise federal rules for verifying the identity documents of new hires and would expand programs to bring in legal immigrant laborers.
Though the pushback is coming from both Democrats and Republicans, in many places it is reopening the rift over immigration that troubled the Republican Party last year. Businesses, generally Republican stalwarts, are standing up to others within the party who accuse them of undercutting border enforcement and jeopardizing U.S. jobs by hiring illegal immigrants as cheap labor.

For those Republicans supporting the crackdown on illegal immigration, I have this question to ask:
Considering that the influx of hundreds of thousands of immigrants is purely market-driven (lousy opportunities in the homeland, and considerably more opportunities in the United States), if you do not want these immigrants are you prepared to offer American citizens a higher wage to fill these obviously much-needed jobs, so that you may enforce your border security without jeopardizing local economies?

This question is a joke right? If Americans were paid what they deserved to be paid, you would not have this mess with immigration in the first place. Good luck in getting any company, let alone an American one to pay you what is deserved. Of course, this is not totally their fault, since the Government is up these companies' asses and also want their pound of flesh.
