McCain's Transformation Of NATO And A New Global Order Of Peace

Posted on Wednesday, September 24 at 10:26 by NAUWATCH

Senator John McCain and his presidential campaign issued a press release followed by a policy address in early 2008 outlining his foreign policy positions. McCain expressed support for: an international 'cap-and-trade system' for 'substantially reducing greenhouse gas emissions'; economic assistance for Africa; creating 'new international institutions'; expansion of NATO membership; a transformation of NATO's mission; and a 'global League of Democracies' with NATO at its core for the 'advancement of global democratic principles' and a 'new global order of peace'.

The February 8, 2008, McCain press release titled, Senator McCain Urges NATO Renaissance, stated:

b"The charge before the transatlantic community today is to establish the basis for a new global order of peace, one that will last not just for a decade but for the rest of this century. And as we move forward, we know that there can be no true and lasting peace unless it is built on a foundation of freedom. Today we need a rebirth of NATO, a renaissance of the transatlantic relationship to extend peace, prosperity, and democracy far into the 21st century.

A bunch of blather if I've ever heard any: peace, prosperity and democracy. We sure as hell know by now all the baggage of capitalism that the US Empire attaches to all that.

As in, we are the only ones, outside of Israel, who should be allowed to have the capacity to nuke the world, as an everlasting threat serving OUR interests everywhere, then we would certainly have at least the peace of the grave. Ditto, we should continue with this same so-called "free market" policy of endless growth of population, meaning cheap labour, and the "labour productivity" rape of the environment that, while it is bringing the planet's natural life giving systems to the brink of destruction, will at least guarantee our "prosperity" for a further while. At least MY lifetime. And what e're resources we may run out of, be lacking, or be in short supply, we will of course have the right to invade and steal it from whomever, in the name of "democracy", "world order" and, of course, the war against their resistance, which we shall define as "terrorism".

And "democracy", of course, which means capitalism, the Amerikan Way, and its two party Tweedle-dee and Tweedle-dum "electoral system" gets to rule everywhere. No exceptions, or whatever any other peoples may choose.

    Dangerous Poppycock!

We need a rebirth of NATO like we need a rebirth of the Cold War, or an attack on Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

Screw the US Empire, and all those US Empire Loyalists in this country as kiss its ass-, in the name of capitalism... errr, "democracy", of course.
