Cellucci Is Wrong -- Canadians Do Want Changes To NAFTA

Most likely, Barack Obama will win the next presidential election. What end are Paul Cellucci's comments aimed at achieving? Beyond pure partisanship as a Republican, what interest does Mr. Cellucci, a former U.S. ambassador to Canada, have in bad-mouthing Mr. Obama to Canadians? Many Canadians feel the North American Free Trade Agreement is worth revisiting. Environmental and labour standards are obviously lacking.

Notwithstanding the lack of protection of our most vital natural resources such as water and trees under the current agreement, NAFTA has encouraged a rapid amount of U.S. takeover of our financial and insurance industries and silently promoted the integration of Canada's national security agenda with that of the U.S. under the guise of prosperity.
