Hope For The Bourgeoisie?

It seems you have to be left or right politically, supporting big socialist government or capitalist corporations. Who supports the middle class businessman/woman? Big government and big corporations aim to destroy the free enterprise small business represents. The rebellious spirit of Sam Adams needs to be resurrected to kick the rumps of the centralist federalists (right & left) out of Washington, DC & greedy capitalists in Wall Street, allowing prosperty to return to the majority of us living in the western hemisphere as a result of our own efforts.

Another thing that governments must do to return their respective countries to a position of prosperity for as many people as possible is to take back the money creation activity, instead of letting the private banks loan it out to us all at high interest, resulting in debt, inflation, and ultimately, slavery. Responsible governments (if they exist ever again) must get back to nation building.

    Well put Dave,

I never understood why a "middleman" (i.e. the charter banks) was required to carry out the business of government. It never made any sense to me why the government printed the money, sent it to the charter banks and borrowed it back at interest just to finance the running of the country (which could explain why the national debt is so large).

Similarly, and with regards to the current economic crisis, the US has "bailed-out" banks and financial insitutions with giga-billions of dollars, with no guarantee that the receiving institutions will free up the money to the credit markets and the American people. Why not create a government institution to, again, avoid the middle man, and directly distribute the required liquidity directly to where it is needed most? I don't understand why the private financial instutions are bailed out, with no oversight or conditions, and then with fingers-crossed, we hope and pray that some of those funds trickle-down to the real economy. It doesn't seem that difficult.

As well, if I as a citizen of a democracy wish to enter into a contract with my neighbour, to exchange his carrots for my radishes, what right does government have to interfere?

Answer the one and you will be able to answer the other...........

    RickW,
I think the citizens of the world (including the captains of industry and finance)are now screaming for governments to "interfere" because of the mess that was created when the unregulated financial industry supported by the policies of non-governmental central banks (like the Fed)bring us to the brink of economic disaster. Every system needs rules and oversight. And who better than governments, because we vote them them and (at least theoretically) they are accountable to the citizenry. That "social contract" gives the government the democratic right to interfere on on our behalf. But I don't pretend for a moment, that in most cases, the actions of government have been "co-opted" by the power and influence of big corporations and finance, which I believe approaches the definition of "Fascism".
