Posted on Thursday, March 12 at 10:04 by Dr Caleb

We urge Attorney General Eric Holder to appoint a non-partisan independent Special Counsel to immediately commence a prosecutorial investigation into the most serious alleged crimes of former President George W. Bush, former Vice President Richard B. Cheney, the attorneys formerly employed by the Department of Justice whose memos sought to justify torture, and other former top officials of the Bush Administration.

LAW sent the attached letter today to the RCMP War Crimes Program requesting them to:

begin an investigation of George W. Bush for aiding, abetting and counseling torture between November 13, 2001 and November 2008 at Guantánamo Bay prison in Cuba, Abu Ghraib prison in Iraq, Bagram prison in Afghanistan and other places; and, advise the Prime Minister, Attorney General of Canada and Ministers of Immigration and Public Safety that the George W. Bush administration is a “ government that has engaged in torture and other war crimes and crimes against humanity and therefore G.W. Bush, as former President, is also inadmissible under section 35(1)(b) of the IRPA.

Too soon, methinks. It hasn't been conclusively proven that GW Bush has lost a war.....yet.

Ah, yes, good point, Rick, but the war on Bush`s watch clearly shows that Bush and his buddies are war criminals!

This last post shouold be put under the "Black Humour" category. But barring that, would you please define "decent"? And could you provide an example of GWB in "action"?

For sufficiently lax definitions of 'decent'.

He kept reading to children when told that the country was under attack. I could go on about everything he did and did not do for the next 7 years.

Alas, he pretty much broke every article of the Geneva Conventions (not that the Iraqis or Taliban were much better), which is why these charges were put forward to begin with.

They must be held to a higher standard, and torture crossed too many lines to ignore.
