Defence Minister Peter MacKay is demanding an apology from Fox News after a panel on of one of its late-night programs made "disgusting" comments about the Canadian military.

A group of pundits on "Red Eye with Greg Gutfeld," which airs weekdays at 3 a.m. on Fox News, each took turns trashing Canada and its military during an episode that aired on March 17.

Anytime man. I've had too many friends who died in Afghanistan to let it pass, and these assclowns did manage to make me very angry. But I'm past that now.

I've hear all these guys excuses. "We were misunderstood!" (pretty clear to me) "It was comedy!" (It was FOX ). "Were sorry! We didn't mean to offend anyone!" (BS, you meant to offend Canadians because you mistakenly thought we back down easy. Sorry, but we don't back down, ever. We compromise when mutually beneficial. Otherwise we kick your asses.

We have stood beside the US against anyone who has challenged ether of us or our allies for going on 80 years. In our 400 years of history, we have never ran from a fight, and we have never started a fight. But we have always finished them, and once committed we have never lost the war.

We don't have to take that crap from these self important children. At the rate they are going, they aren't going to make it past the 3am 'no one cares about them' programs.

Set directors for fast food commercials will likely be their next job.

The apology was demanded by a representative of the Canadian government, and should rightly be given by a representative of the US government, and not by some a$$lick 2-bit TV network......

What? You didn't know that this is what a great many Americans really think of us, in their secret and less secret heart of hearts?

I've known it since I first tried to befriend one of the assholes as a youngster, while they were holidaying in this country. Later confirmed by my encounters with them around the globe during my own time in the military. (Even then, we were already following them around the globe like we were their little puppy dog... as we had earlier done likewise with the old British Empire. Upon the cusp of which transformation I served. We had already followed them into Korea, where we similarly fought in one of their early "imperial" wars.) Everything since has only further underscored what I had already learned about "the US attitude" toward everyone else, not the least excluding us.

Time to wake up and smell the coffee kiddies. Get the sleep out of your eyes and take a reality check. They think that we are, and only good for being, a bootlick state that holds their coat and wipes their ass in the real imperial wars of the US Empire, we still foolishly think are all about "democracy".

Duhhhh. These guys on Fox actually had it right in a way. We're nobodies and dummies, who'll let them shit on us and keep coming back for more. We're nice and boring folks, who'll do as they're told.

We're wannabes who never will be... at the rate we're going. We don't have either the smarts or the cajones/ovaries to be our own man/woman country yet. We're still naive Santa Claus and the Tooth Fairy Believers in the Really Tough Guys' and Gals' World

C'mon Canada, continue to Vote the seriously girly-man Liberal, Conservative or NDP if you want the emasculation/neutering of the country to continue!

I'm only surprised that my fellow Canadians are surprised. I thought they at least knew they were candy-ass whipped.

    Shows to go ya.

Pfft, nice try, MacKay. Acting like you really give a damn, you must really think we're idiots! Face it, you're just another SPP sellout, a traitor and a liar. Suck on that.

Yes, Coyoteman, I knew it. But knowing it is one thing, and hearing it, another.

And Mr. Harder, you are right. MacKay is a traitor. Ask David orchard............

    True, brother. True.

I wasn't surprised myself, but which still made it no less galling for sure.

It truly is a wonder the US has any friends left, geo-politically speaking. When they finally lose us, and I'm still convinced that they will, it will truly be the signal that the world is once again upon the cusp of a major transformational change, and the days of the US Empire are seriously near their end.

Which is the positive in all this. It does help to drive that wedge in deeper, widening the split and hastening "the day". Keep it up you right wingnut goofs. We couldn't do it without you.

You ARE the optimist, aint'cha? We have a lot of detritus to clean up (or clear out) before that happy day, though (mainly the entire Liberal and Conservative parties -- not to mention quite a few provincial parties)

"What? You didn't know that this is what a great many Americans really think of us, in their secret and less secret heart of hearts?"

How is this any different than the bigoted attitudes that many Canadians hold towards Americans? You nationalists are so happy to dish it out but get so sensitive and easily wounded when some the abuse comes back our way. In Canada, we've had entire publications, political parties, and political/journalistic/academic careers devoted to anti-Americanism. The Americans would have their work cut out for them trying to match our level of abuse aimed in their direction. One stupid rant from some ignorant Fox News sphincter is barely a drop in the bucket.

"I've known it since I first tried to befriend one of the assholes as a youngster, while they were holidaying in this country. How interesting. My experiences with Americans have been completely the opposite. I have found the vast majority of those I've met to be warm, friendly and genuinely curious about this country. In fact, I've encountered more of the smugness, self-absorption and arrogance you describe in my dealings with Torontonians than with Americans.

Greg Gutfeld is no more representative of the US as a whole than Heather Mallick is of Canada. Both Canadians and Americans should be *very* happy about that fact.

We have a lot of detritus to clean up (or clear out) before that happy day, though...

For an example of that, for sure, we have this "Anything But an Individualist" above here. Ever the US Empire Loyalist... always happy to have us fight their failing capitalism and empire cause.

No doubt your experience with them has been "completely the opposite" to mine, our "Take it Bent Over Touching Your Toes for The US Team" Loyalist here. I would bloody hope so. You'll never find me voluntarily in your favoured so compromising a position, for sure.

You are the embodiment of the very servile attitude, in all its forms and manifestations, which has to be rolled over and defeated in this country. Then maybe, just maybe we can crawl that last mile to the final discovery of our own real national manhood/womanhood. (In the Spirit of August 1814, following the US invasion of Canada in 1812, :D with Washington burning?)

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Burning_of_Washington

Go play with your real friends. Like I say, no doubt they "like" you better than, for example, the likes of me. I will remain unperturbed, believe me. :)

And all of which doesn't mean that we can't never again be friends with the American people. Once they've learned to seriously respect us, for being our own adults, and not just their pawns and playthings. (I get along today with many an old enemy with whom I used to scrap, once we finally settled things. And expect to do so with US citizens as well, one day. )

Of course, we, being Canucks, have to temper our overall attitude to our Yankee brethren, by first determining whether they are liberals or fanatics............

Of course, we, being Canucks, have to temper our overall attitude to our Yankee brethren, by first determining whether they are liberals or fanatics......

And yes, even now, while there can be said to be a "dominant" US "power attitude" toward itself and us in the rest of the world, which is not flattering to themselves and threatening to the rest of us, fortunately, NOT ALL AMERICANS ARE THE SAME. There are, entirely likely, as many US citizens opposed to the greed driven imperialism and capitalism of their own country, as there are those of us likewise on this side of the border. (Which they themselves have recently reminded us, out of the mouth of the Obamaites themselves, IS A REAL BORDER. "GET USED TO IT.", they said.)

And the Obamaites are correct after all. What divides us is A REAL BORDER. Only it is that WE, no less than our ruling class, have to face this reality, no less than themselves, the US, and begin to conduct ourselves as if we really are a separate and distinct nation entity with its own set of "national interests", not the same as, and no less real and imperative than their own. (In this regards of the "reality" of the "border", we have these Obamaites to thank, for hopefully helping to bring us back to our own national senses. Hopefully. Again, only hopefully.)

All is, afterall, not entirely black and white. Even I recognize this central truth.

Still, there are times and situations where one is forced, again by the realities of the time, to act as if such were not so-, pending arrival at another place in time and space, AND CIRCUMSTANCES. And hopefully, assuming Canadians do indeed find their own voice/cajones/ovaries of national manhood/womanhood soon enough, and Americans are likewise forced to face up to other realities of their own, fast closing in on them as well, we and they will get there, to that new place of new possibilities. BUT WE ARE NOT THERE NOW, which is the real point we need to know in "this" PLACE and TIME.

And which is precisely the point our US Empire Loyalists in this country do not get. They are lost in the fantasy of their own particular naive idealism, no less than we as a country have been, and much still are.

Which, in my ever humble opinion :) , is why the country needs such as us, on the SERIOUS revolutionary or "transformative" nationalist left, with our particular "world view" of both history and current events... to remind them, and bring them back to reality.
