There is no question about Obama in this regard, I think. In the end, he will do whatever is perceived to be in the interests of the US and its corporate ruling class, as perceived through an opportunist liberal prism. Which means he will talk to the US working class about "fair" trade, but pursue the ruling class interest in "US controlled and dominated global markets", or, the US version of so-called Free Trade".

Complicating this right now, of course, is the ongoing and still collapsing US and global "real economy" (which excludes the stock market and financial markets "paper economy" per se). Though these latter two "speculative paper markets" are still in a turmoil as well, but reflect more "the perceptions" of the market players, rather than necessarily "the reality" of the real economy as experienced by ordinary people.

Which is to say that, whilst Obama will endeavour to pursue the US ruling class interest in corporate dominated "free trade", again so-called, the economic realities of current capitalism being what they are, he has to also keep an eye on the US working-class, which is becoming increasingly alarmed by the bail-outs of the wealthy and the continuing growth in their own unemployment, homelessness and impoverishment. While the US working class has been amongst the most "tame" of the relatively recent capitalist world, going back to the 30s and 40s, its history is not without its own militant past and traditions. (In fact, we owe the 8 hour day largely to the militant action of the US working class.)

So, we should know what Obama would prefer to be doing in the current world, while at the same time having to cope with the realities of the US capitalism "real marketplace", as it exists, rather than as they may prefer it to be. Expect signs of some contradictions.

The ruling class everywhere, as in the US, might prefer to totally ignore the needs and wishes of the working class, and will to the max they can get away with, but nonetheless... there is a limit on the degree and length of time to which they can do so. And they have ruled for a long time, so they are not total fools. Close, but not total.

Obama has been linked to the infamous Chicago School of "economics" -- and he has declared that he loves free trade...................but that was "election fever", as his bailout packages have demonstrated.

The brutal fact of this so called "marketplace" is that the largest commodity it sells are human lives. Especially when the millions of victims are asleep, or either don't care, or are to ignorant to recognize what's happening to them.

So far, the last hundred years, and especially the last 40, have been unmitigated disaster for the human race, yet the vast majority still don't realize what is happening to them and go merrily along with the slave drivers.

But then, there have been cases in history when humanity woke up and we can only hope they'll wake up again..........and before it is too late.

The essence of the real dilemma in the way of arriving at a solution to the problems of the period, no doubt Ed.

But then, there have been cases in history when humanity woke up and we can only hope they'll wake up again..........and before it is too late.

Which is true as well, and the single greatest, only real hope of the period. Obama, on the other hand, is just one more false illusion amongst a great many of the period, onto which many folks there in the US, and strangely, many here in Canada as well have pinned their wan hopes, like he was the second coming.

Folks have to get weary of waiting for the coming of this or another Saviour, who will save them having to act. They are going to collectively have to be their own "Saviour", or it just ain't gonna hoppen, and the species is just a failed experiment of Nature. (Which I am not yet ready to conclude that it is.)

All forms of life are programmed to fill certain ecological needs. The human race is the only one cursed with animal bodies and the capability for abstract thought, which opens the door for false prophets and theorists to walk in and take control.

This has always been the cause for the perennially recurring tragedies and the absolutely ridiculous and inexcusable repetitions of history.

Obama is bought and paid for by the same gazillionaires as Bush, Cheney, McCain, and Palin. All Obama is, is a nicer, more articulate face presented to advertise the fascism!

I just watched a documentary- The Obama Deception. It is not left or right and lays out how Obama is just a puppet like Bush and past presidents. It shows how both the Democrats and Republicans are both controlled.

The maker of the film is Alex Jones, now I don't care what anyone thinks about him, but he did a great job. Don't make this about him- just watch the film for yourself and make up your own mind.
