Maybe it's just me, but I have a bad feeling that this is going to be worse than NAFTA.

In theory it ought to be movement in the right direction - Canada trading with Europe and East Asia in her own right on her own account according to Sir John A's vision of Canada. But somehow I don't think Stephen Harper has accidentally stumbled into that vision. I smell fish.

It should be obvious to everyone by now that these so called "free trade agreements" have little to do with trade, which exists anyway, but are international treaties restricting the decision making powers of peoples and societies, for the setting up of ruling sectors.

Europe is a sick, overpopulated sardine can without any resources and that's all there's behind these phony schemes.

As the EU is sinking into a continent wide bureaucratic dictatorship with Western multinationals pulling the reins. Now they and the NAFTA warlords, want to spread this out all over the world, as per long standing plans.

And, thanks to Mulroney and successors, we have nothing left to trade except the shirts off our backs...............

In reading the news article about the poll, I notice it paid short shrift to any details of said poll.......I would be curious for more details.

And we're and underpopulated with a shitload of resources that need new markets.

Preferably markets that aren't interested in privatizing our health care, busting unions, crippling our govt's right to make economic policies as preconditions to trade agreements....

I love the opportunity for Canada to reduce it's dependency on the US and the ability for us to give up our seats on the sinking Titanic, which we should abandon as much as possible, as quickly as possible , for obvious reasons.
Show me a country with a huge population which has more freedom and a better quiality of life. We are overpopulated, just less overpopulated than others. If we were not, then environmental damage, and running out of any resources would not be an issue.

So why not pursue the "radical" notion of making things ourselves out of our "shitload of resources" -- then selling what it is we make?

Had we been doing that, we would have been recession proof.
