Posted on Tuesday, May 05 at 21:59 by RickW

Karzai's decision to defy international pressure and appoint Mohammad Qasim Fahim as one of his two vice-presidential candidates for the 20 August poll showed the world and the Afghan people that the president was "moving the country backwards", said a western diplomat in Kabul, who is close to the UN chief in the country, Kai Eide.

I don't know if it is true, but I remember reading that Karzai's brother is a drug lord. Either way his government is corrupt and he is nothing more then a puppet.

The "decrease" (and I use the word loosely) is in the areas where the Taliban is weakest, and where the "warlords" reign. I wonder if there really IS a decrease. Or barring that, are the "warlords" being bought off NOT to grow the poppy...........

I don't know if it's true, but the head of US Homeland Security and a well respected US Senator both said that the 9/11 terrorists came from Canada.

Repeating a lie leads to all sorts of bad things. Be sure.

I'm not concerned one way or the other, I just prefer truth vs. rumour.

Dr Caleb, I just wanted people to know that I wasn't making things up. In his defence, I can say that I have never bought heroin from him.
