The Colonials Are Having A Party

The Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives (B.C.), or The Colonials Are Having a Big Party.

You don’t know CCPA.  You don’t?  That means (I say this in a kindly way) you’re NOTHING, a nobody.

Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives is that decent, quiet, undramatic, dull organization created to balance the Fraser Institute, the C. D. Howe Institute  and the other powerful “propaganda tanks’ that work for corporate dominance of Canadian government and life.

Created “to balance” is the right phrase.  CCPA doesn’t want to replace those others … or offend them.  Heaven forbid!   It just wants to provide “balance”.  The CCPA doesn’t want to offend anyone.  It never has.  It never does. It never will.

It wants to end corporate dominance of Canada without offending the corporations.  You see?  That takes skill … and long training.

And now CCPA (B.C.) is having a Big Party.  Oh Boy!!  To raise funds and to eat an Indian [East Indian] buffet dinner!! (April 29.)

At the Party – as you could guess – there’ll be a Major Speaker, talking about what has happened to Canada.  You know.  The dominance of corporate power.  The attack on social programs.  The destruction of Crown corporations: BC Hydro, CN Rail, BC Rail, etc.  You know.  The attacks on Health Care, natural fish production – the sell-out of the Canadian forest industry.  The dirtiest alliance in Canadian history among the Stephen Harper Right, the Alberta Government Right, the Corporate Right – in what might be called ‘the rape by tar sands” of Canadian environment.

You know….

Think who the Major Speaker will be?  Make a guess.  Go on….  Will it be Mel Hurtig, undaunted critic of sell-out whose last two books are devastating exposes?  Mel Watkins, long, long time fighter for Canadian economic independence?  Daniel Drache, York University critic of U.S. dominated corporate power in Canada?  Buzz Hargrove, labour tough looking at sell-out from the worker perspective?  Andrew Nikiforuk, key fighter against the obscene Tar Sands rape?  Paul Palango, three book writer on the collapse of the RCMP and the administration of justice in Canada?

Do you guess someone like one of those?

Don’t be SILLY.

All those people named are Canadian.  Who wants to hear from a Canadian about Canada?  Not CCPA.

The Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives knows who matters.  And Canadians … don’t!

So.  Guess what?  The name of the Major Speaker is Andy Bichlbaum from the U.S.A.  Of course! You’ve never heard of him?  O Please.  Naomi Klein who writes for the U.S. paper THE NATION has heard of Andy Bichlbaum.  She endorses him on the multi-coloured poster!  She knows, too, that a U.S. person is, by mere U.S. citizenship, superior to anything Canada can offer.  Obviously.  Even if the U.S. person doesn’t know anything about Canada.

And, for that matter, isn’t Naomi Klein, herself, a U.S. citizen?  Oh well ….

You, too, can pay $75.00 to go to the big CCPA Party For Colonials – celebrating the superiority of U.S. people – even on the subject of Canada.

Rush!  Move Fast!  Tickets are flying out the door!

The Colonials are having a big party for Colonials.  Be first.  Be smart. Be there!

Hahahahaha! There's nothing like laugh therapy as palliative to a heavy heart. Thanks Robin. It brought tears to my eyes!
