Bush Turns To Big Military Contractors For Border Control

Posted on Saturday, May 20 at 08:28 by 4Canada
It is a humbling acknowledgment that despite more than a decade of initiatives with macho-sounding names, like Operation Hold the Line in El Paso or Operation Gate Keeper in San Diego, the federal government has repeatedly failed on its own to gain control of the land borders. Through its Secure Border Initiative, the Bush administration intends to not simply buy an amalgam of high-tech equipment to help it patrol the borders — a tactic it has also already tried, at a cost of hundreds of millions of dollars, with extremely limited success. It is also asking the contractors to devise and build a whole new border strategy that ties together the personnel, technology and physical barriers. http://www.commondreams.org/headlines06/0518-08.htm

We simply cannot afford to forget that EVERYTHING Bush does, is designed to allow "Big Military Contractors" (aka Halliburton & clones) to cash in. The ruse of sending the National Guard to the Mexican border is merely an opening gambit. After just about everyone shoots down that idea, he then says, well, let's just contract it out.

Does anyone remember the Brandenburg Gate and Checkpoint Charlie?

Maybe it's a stretch, but given Bush' taking near dictatorial powers for himself, is it really that far-fetched?

It is ironical the Americans are building an Iron Curtain. It's not unlike the Soviets. The Americans were more opposed to that wall because they had limited access to that countries confidentiality. Perhaps it's why they invaded Iraq and soon Iran. They can't get to the secrets from the outside. The planned American Embassy in Iraq is to have 16' walls to surround an area 100 square miles. Americans can find use for walls and the ultimate security. They most certainly will arm the southern border of their own country as well. The walls around the embassy will be to keep the Iraq citizens out and maybe someday the wall to their south will serve to keep their citizens in.

    >>unmanned aerial vehicles, ground surveillance satellites and motion-detection video equipment<<

Maybe, Canada should put these items in place first?

Then the Bush Administration can stop slapping Canada for Terrorists entering the U.S.A.

I wonder how long that would last before the U.S. demanded open hearings for the many U.S. citzens incarserated in the new terrorist prison we just built for having hidding weapons in there R.V.'s and motor homes?

Surprise, the US border will soon be brought to you by Lockheed Martin and friends. Note that Lockheed and other contractors are not simply being asked to build it, but also to essentially determine the border plan/policy. Well, Lockheed doesn't have all those well-paid, well-placed lobbyists for nothing.
