Politics Of Oil

Posted on Monday, July 19 at 11:05 by Scape
Highlights: U.S. oil and gas companies have 882 subsidiaries in tax haven countries. Stewart is sentenced to five months for lying about stock sale for making a few thousand and yet the oil companies are making Billions in untaxed revenue. Koch, the largest privately owned oil company, is not held under the same scrutiny that publicly traded business have and it has used the weakness of democratic society to grease the wheels of change. For example: there has been over 300 oil spills in the United states since 1990. The cost of cleanup would be in the billions however, through proper lobbying, senate votes and information provided by think tanks that are funded by the oil industry the fine was made to be 30 Million and even that is being appealed.

The American politicians have been bought and paid for.

This is such a disgrace that the average American citizen doesn't even know about because of the media slant in their country.

More proof that the White House, Congress, etc., have been selling their country out by allowing tax shelters to keep going, donations to politicians are out of control, and the public is in the dark. They think everything is fine if they have a job and can pay their bills.

If they only knew the truth.

Criminals all !! Their system is even more depraved than ours, but methinks we are catching up.

Pass the word, this has to get out to the public !!

This is sick, and I agree Jim most people don't have a clue, but I think it is just as bad in Canada, too many uninformed people is what is giving the freedom to the corporations.

The USA is a fascist state, or to use another phrase a corporatist state, and we are on our way to becoming one. Corporations should be taken down a peg by law, their rights reduced and their charters pulled for continued infractions. Corporations were created by governments to be of benefit to the commonweal. Many of them aren't anymore, they benefit their owners at the expense of all else, they are not national institutions for nation building.
We should remove ourselves from NAFTA post haste, throttle back on the cross border petroleum valves to show we mean business and get on with being masters of our own destiny. I will even drink Molsens but not Coors.
