Link Byfield, Historical Revisionist

Link says: "The historical fact is that after Ottawa stood by and let the Natives wipe out the last remaining Canadian buffalo in the Cypress Hills in 1879, the empty western plains soon filled up with unfenced cattle ranches bigger than present-day Toronto. These were owned and operated by newcomers from Britain, Canada and the U.S. -- the Waldron, the Cochrane, the Oxley, the Northwest Cattle Co., the Beresford, the Bar U." Excuse me: Natives wiped out the last remaining buffalo? Sure the Natives hunted buffalo; but they were not responsible for wiping them out. That was already done by the western expansion of American and Canadian railway barons, mercantilists and settlers. Tell that to Poundmaker, Old Crow, and the rest who testified to the destruction of the buffalo with the coming of the white man. And Ottawa didn't stand by, but encouraged the destruction of the plains buffalo in order to expand the CPR which opened the west to the Big Ranchers. I can't believe someone could say that Ottawa stood by and let the natives kill off the last of the Buffalo. What BS! It's wasn't enough to lie and cheat the Indian natives out of their land and culture back then, but to stand there today and perpetuate the myth that white men are the good guys and they were the savages now, is pathetic.

The world would be a much better place if we lived life according to the native way of life. We are the savages against Mother Nature. We are the uneducated in things that really matter.

They deserve the truth to be told. They deserve our utmost respect. I truly believe were it not for our native Indians during the War of 1812, things may have turned out differently.

With all the new laws being anti this and that. You can't say this or that, or you'll be fined, thrown in jail or put on some type of watch list. Why is it ok for some lies and myths to continue?

Euguene, you could also add that it was the explicit policy of the United States government to exterminate buffalo herds on the western plains to end the American Indians' independent way of life.

And of course, the buffalo didn't know anything about borders, did they?

Yep, Tecumseh should have a monument just as large as Issac Brock`s monument is. He was every bit as good a general, if not better! And, wasn`t it the white man who said, " Destroy all the Buffalo. As the Buffalo go, so do the Indians."

I know, off topic, but why hasn't there been a big box office movie about Tecumseh, I'd actually pay to see that. A true hero!

Well, as usual, it would shame the spineless losers currently in government to acknowledge the contributions of people like Tecumseh, especially when the public learns more about how Indians were lied to, and are still lied to. Tecumseh was actually promised an independent Indian homeland in the Michigan Territory by the British-Canadian coalition, and when Tecumseh was killed in the Battle of the Longwoods (because British-Canadian troops abandoned his 600 warriors to fight alone against 3000 Americans) the dream of a sovereign Indian state died with Tecumseh. But yeah, if it wasn`t for Tecumseh and his warriors, there`d be no Canada!
