LOL I've been refering to Harper as Bush's Mini-me for awhile, so that's my pick.

I vote for a paper ballot cast into a randomizing box, the bigger the better (a count in the thousands). Then ... open the "box" and input the ballots by people counting or electronic "data entry". After the first level of recording each voter's opinion, it's just a matter of rolling up totals all the way to the top. Once we have physical evidence of the vote (a manual recount is possible), and a visible guarantee that no one is keeping track of you, in particular, casting your ballot (matched in some clever way!) ... then we go electrical. Of course fingerprint proof ballots will be needed.

When Canada gets around to using preferential ballots, whether calculating away with STV or MMP or going to pair-wise "methods" ... calculators and computers can certainly speed things up, much like they do now.
