Stand For Canada- Campaign 2005

Posted on Wednesday, May 11 at 00:00 by whelan costen
Being a candidate for any party is an onerous responsibility, but especially so for a party like CAP with all its difficulties to date in surviving, and even being able to be an alternative voice. We have not only survived, in many ways we have been rejuvenated because of the desperate times in Canada and the world. CAP/PAC began and still exists precisely because no one else will say the things the way we know them to be, or even say them at all in any form. No one. Our candidates matter precisely because we talk about thing no others will raise. We provide new information to the public who hear us. Our voice forces the other parties to face our issues. Many of them adopt them to the chagrin of our candidates because the public then says, "Well, I can vote for xx because they too will do what CAP will do". You will be wise enough not to be discouraged by that, but rather to see your contribution as a significant conscience forcing the issues out on the plate. That matters a great deal. The inexperienced candidates are devastated by losing, big time. It is hard to help them understand that the loss is not their fault individually, but rather is part of the overwhelming odds and force that we confront. It is hard for them to accept that their finger in the dyke truly is heroic. This election more than any other in a long, long time requires alternative voices for the public who may choose not to vote at all for lack of meaningful choice. It really matters to give people an alternative of substance, to give people a sense of hope. Fear comes from the unknown. We are the antidote to the fear. The only missing part of the equation is you, the representative, to take the message to the people. I am asking you to sacrifice yourself for a few months. I know it is a sacrifice of your time, emotions, energy, etc. I am not asking you to do this for me as I know you know, or even for yourself. I am asking you to do this for your family and your community and a liveable future. Send your name, address, telephone number, fax number, e mail address, and brief description of yourself, and identify the riding you wish to run in to info@canadianactionparty.ca and to conniefogal@telus.net or to #385- 916 West Broadway Ave., Vancouver, B.C. V5Z1K7 An election could be forced any day by the Conservative Party and Bloq Quebecois opposition. The earlier it comes, the harder it will be for us, but we are readying ourselves as best we can in the circumstances. Please make your decision to join us a.s.a.p. Check out www.canadianactionparty.ca for candidate information which will be increasing over time. Sincerely, Connie Fogal, Leader, CAP/PAC

For all of you Canadians, so peeved at what is going on in this country, here is an opportunity to take action! I realize it isn't the only opportunity, but it is one that covers our soveriegnty, and saving this country from corporate rule, preventing the continued sell out of this country, getting rid of NAFTA, the blight of so many years, and protecting the people and environment.

I`d run for the CAP in my riding, but I don`t have the $1000.00 election fee. I only hope there`s a candidate in my riding.

Hey Dave, if you could get 10 people to come up with $100 which they get a tax receipt for, and ends up only costing them about $25.00; you would have both supporters and the money. True you have to pay before you can collect donations and give receipts, but you would make a great candidate. People would know you are standing for them.

Dave,Whelan is right!I have read your posts, you are obviously aware of the problems in Canada and what needs to be done.If you are serious about running I`ll give you the first $200.00.
That leaves you with 8 more people to give you another 100.00 each.

Ok, you know what? I`m going to see what I can do and I`ll be talking to you guys! Thanks for the support! You always think, "Who`s going to donate to a party that people hardly know?" But i`ve been talking to many family, friends, co-workers, etc, and many like the party platform. I`ve also been distributing the CAP pamphlets around Ontario on some of my various travels, hoping it will open some eyes. You guys just gave me a much needed jolt of energy! I`m going to see if I can get some other donors, as well as scrape up some myself! Thanks guys!!!!

You can meet the former Canadian Action Party leader at Parkdale Public Library on Saturday, June 25, 2005 from 10:30 am - 1:30 pm. He's going to talk on how we can reclaim the use of the Bank of Canada so we stop wasting so much of our tax money on interest to private banks, and more. And there will be a chance for informal discussions at lunch and at the end. That's 1303 Queen St W in Auditorium A in the basement. Hope to see you there. Anne Eriksen, CAP executive
