But she was told such a trip would be fraught with danger and it would be best if she waited.
She was also told that the trip could compromise military operations.
Jean then watched the prime minister make the very same trip in March after she was advised by DND officials not to go.
Jean asked again after Harper and Defence Minister Gordon O'Connor made their surprise visit to the strife-torn country.
Again, Jean was told conditions on the ground were too dangerous to permit a trip to the region.

This is where Canada differs from the US. The Governor-General is not the "commander-in-chief". (And by the way, I just read here on Vive that O'Connor said Canada is "not at war" in Afghanistan.)
So I agree with the fact that she has been denied a trip. What part of "No / Non" is it that Her Excellency does not understand?
Ummm, yes she is. Has her own special branch of the Armed Forces to protect her exclusively too.

That will only get us deeper into this US created quagmire.

The GGFG go everywhere she goes. The GGFG is to some, the highest most honourable posting in the entire armed forces.<br />

But how does that do anything bad? The troops would get a huge morale boost by seeing her there. I don't see how that has anything to do with the US and it's policies.<p>---<br>"I think it's important to always carry enough technology to restart civilization, should it be necessary."
