New Poll Says Most Canadians Blame U.S. For 9/11 Attacks

The poll suggests that 77 per cent of Quebecers polled primarily blame American foreign policy for the Sept. 11 attacks. The results suggest 57 per cent in Ontario hold a similar view.
It would appear "Canadians" only live in Quebec and Ontario. Even though I agree with those majority, I would be interested in the results if the poll included the Western Provinces, East coast and NWT as well. A recent poll by the Globe and Mail indicated only 39% of Canadians wanted Harper to pull the troops from Afghanistan.
chall picked up on something I was going to mention had no one else noticed. The poll carefully side steps the more important question, which is what Canadians think about who was really responsible for 9/11 directly. Instead, they only asked about reason for the attacks - which creates the false impression that Canadians agree with the official 9/11 conspiracy theory and don't think that the US government actually commited the crime and covered it up.
I would have loved to see the direct question asked if Canadians thought that the US government was directly responsible for the attacks or not. For some mysterious reason, no corporate polling company seems to want to ask that obvious question, especially considering that many people now realize that the official 9/11 conspiracy theory is unlikely to be true.
To be fair, as with most corporate polls, it is impossible to know what to make out of them without actually seeing the questions asked, in what context they were asked, and how the random sample was selected.
I doubt that poll is accurate. However, some people may disagree strongly with the war in Afghansitan but don't agree that we should pull out because they think that we're responsible for fixing the mess that we started. In my opinion, that logic may be with good intentions, but it's misguided. Depending on how the poll was conducted, the "we broke it so now we have to fix it" logic can be used to create the false sense that most Canadians support the war when it could be that they don't (and possibly never did).

I was listening to as much as I could stomach of the Mark Davis show on ABC talk radio on sirius this afternoon and of course with the 5th anniversary of 9/11 fast approaching, the talk of the day (or week) is all 9/11.

According to Mr. Davis "Americans just don't get it" as 55% of them don't feel particularly threatened by terrorism, yada yada yada...

The part that really got me though was when he mentioned Canada and said how "Canadians just don't get it either" because a majority of Canadians believe that 9/11 was as a result of US foreign policy. I guess Canadians would be wrong if in fact it was a result of domestic policy... I think Mark Davis is the one that "just doesn't get it".

Possible! but I live near Comox, BC and get the impression from the locals that it would be insulting to call our men back. Insulting to the men, as if it is their desire and not politics. It's a catch 22. Don't withdraw the troops because it would be demoralizing for them to think they were sent over for no good reason.
"Don't withdraw the troops because it would be demoralizing for them to think they were sent over for no good reason."
That has to be the most nonsensical reason for staying that I've seen yet. Anyone who thinks the troops should stay, should either sign up themselves for slaughter or shut the hell up.

That's the reason we have government. We are stupid enough to vote for idiots and stupid enough to listen to them. I recall an old movie with Peter Sellars. I'm not sure of the title but it may be "The mouse that roared'. It was about a war declared but nobody attended. STUPIDITY is what the whole thing is about.
You may discover that I get a little sarcastic about most events today.
mmmm t-shirts, where do i get in line... no really, it stayed a little longer the last time and it's a spam checker. either that or that it's cover and it's actually an application installed by csis to keep an eye on who's posting what. ;?)

The media then dutifully informs us what we should be thinking, as we struggle to be just like our fellow Canadians.
