Part 11: A National Constitutional Constituent Assemby

Posted on Monday, February 28 at 12:50 by Anonymous
Remember, Trudeau, was going to put the complete Charter of Rights DIRECTLY to the people of Canada in a referendum if the provinces did not agree to it. This implies, that Trudeau was pushing the envelope to go over the provinces and go directly to the people, whom he recognized as the ultimate sovereign authority over any constitutional change. Therefore, it can be done again. Surely, we as citizens, possessed with a confidence in a more expansive vision of our democratic rights, and that sovereign authority to decide how we shall govern ourselves as citizens vests not in the Federal or Provincial Crown as "constitued powers" - but in ourselves "as constituent power, awakened and alive with creativity" can indeed convoke and elect a "National Constitutional Constituent Assembly" to remedy the serious dysfunctionalities in our governance systems. This country is not frozen to the historical time of that colonial constitution that established the concept of Executive Federalism - where Premiers and Prime Ministers run this country in a virtually dictatorial manner. We, the people of Canada, not the provinces and the federal governments, have the sovereign right to decide the rules upon which we shoud rely upon to govern ourselves. So if Canada is losing her sovereignty, it is, I submit, because the people of Canada need to awaken to a more expansive vision of their sovereign power to govern this country ...as counter- opposed to the vision offered by corporate Canada, the PMO's office, and the office of the Premier's --all of whom as a tiny, but powerful oligarchy are seriously eroding and endangering the sovereign independence of this nation. Finally, don't argue for your limitations as citizens, otherwise they shall be yours. Argue for an expansive version of citizen's democratic rights, present arguments to strengthen citizens's democratic rights, rights that include the legal vesting of sovereign power in citizens and not the Crown and her Ministers!
