Granny Protests Her Way To Jail

Posted on Wednesday, October 15 at 00:00 by Anonymous
Betty Krawczyk, 75, had already been in jail for more than 100 days when she was sentenced Tuesday for contempt of court. The great-grandmother will appeal the sentence. Krawczyk has always refused to accept probation conditions that would restrict her ability to protest against logging. Justice Bruce Harvey said Tuesday the conditions for release were reasonable and compared Krawczyk's confinement to "a self-inflicted wound."

"The defendant has made it clear she will continue with (anti-logging group) Women in the Woods," said Harvey, who said he took the well-known activist's past record and imprisonment into account in making the decision.

I guess this supports the theory that our government and the courts support corporate decisions which rape our country and deplete our natural resources. Go Granny, the judge has no problem putting Granny in jail, but they seem to have difficulty charging politicians while they steal from the people and take \'freebies\' to seal a deal. The scales are not balanced once more!
