    What did we expect?

I was not surprised to hear about this spill. Like everyone else I was thinking 'when will the next one be?'

We are dependant on oil, a realisation that we were been born into.

Will we ever be able to get rid of this consumer driven society we live in that relies on oil?

I am 23, it's time people from my generation and younger started to see oil for what it is...the end of us all. We are all spoiled by oil, but oil will spoil us all after the crash!

And just to be sure the BC Lieberals want to lift the ban on offshore drilling on the BC coast. Screw the fisheries and tourism, there is oil to be drilled!

Look no further than our illustrious Canadian government, with its wonderful record on the environment.

I am currently reading Sheila Copps' book "Worth Fighting For", and it is just amazing how the government shoves the environmental issues onto the back burner.

In this book, Ms. Coops states that martin, as finance minister, handed out tax credits to "Big Oil" and would NOT do the same for renewable energy resources.

Get used to it, it's going to get worse.

I think I will start a company making machetes, so when they confiscate our long guns, we'll still have a little something to fight back with.

And fight back I will !

This book is a good read. I recommend it.

You'll note just how much more media attention was paid to elections in Russia, and how much more time politicians spent making an issue out of Russia rather than discussing what is a pretty big issue here.

It isn't really the oil that's the problem...it's the greed and the myopic stupidity that greed breeds. Fix those things (good luck) and we wouldn't have oil spills because we wouldn't be using it anymore.

I hope you have better luck with your generation than we did with mine, Anonymous.

What people don't realise is that the oil crash will be in 40 years...not 1000....and when it hits all the MP's putting environmental issues on the backburner will be dead.

So, what do we do? Wait like children.

It's not the way I want to live my life but with so many people buying and not thinking I feel a little out of luck to be born when I was.

...actually it's more like 2-16 years, if not already.
