That, in turn, provided fodder for pundits who enjoy portraying Canadians as foolishly anti-American. According to them (the Canadian anti-Canadians), it's as if Canadians are completely out of step with the rest of the world, the result of some deep and long-standing inferiority complex that even Dr. Phil couldn't treat.
But are Canadians truly anti-American? Do we really dislike our nearest neighbour, with whom we share -- so far, at least -- the longest undefended border in the world?
Well, according to a worldwide poll conducted this summer by the Pew Global Attitudes Project, most Canadians hold favourable views of America.
In fact, we are the third most pro-American nation of any of the 16 countries polled by Pew, a respected international think-tank co-chaired by former U.S. Secretary of State Madeline Albright.

Seems someone doesn't want to be good neighbours anymore. Or are the anti-Canadians just adding wood to their own smouldering fire.

My American cousin puts it this way - we had our time in the sun, now we must fade out before we can climb back. To that effect anyways, but i get what he means.
Greed is a deadly sin and they are as deep as deep gets when it comes to that.
One last thing - far too many Americans think criticism of the US government and corporations is targeted at them personally - which is far from the truth. I think rather than face the problems that plague them, they strike out at the messenger instead. Alot of this has to do with the constant humm of "America is the best". Americans are inward looking people, so when told their shiit stinks, I can see how that upsets some of them. Nobody wants to be told they stink. Your government is your armpit - it needs a fresh dose of deoderant - don't take it personally. Shower off and come back to the world community. We may have to wait until 2008, but we are not going anywhere.
Merry Christmas to the members of Vive and the anonoymous posters. To those who do not celebrate Christmas, have a happy holiday season.
