McKenna's Liberal Ties Make Job 'Virtually Impossible'

Posted on Thursday, January 26 at 11:09 by chall
The 58-year-old, who has yet to announce whether he will seek to replace Paul Martin as Liberal Leader, said he believes there is "enormous value" in having a political appointee serve as Washington ambassador because of "the ability to work intimately with the Canadian government." "It is this perception of closeness that provides a strong platform for the Canadian ambassador to advance Canada's interest," he said. http://www.theglobeandmail.com/servlet/ArticleNews/TPStory/LAC/20060126/MCKENNA26/TPNational/Canada [Proofreader's note: this article was edited for spelling and typos on January 27, 2006]

The Liberals are about 19 million in the whole, when Harpers is done with the investigation on them , no one will want the job. Do not worry Farnk not that stupid, then again maybe he is.

Wow, you must be a lawyer. What a gift this would be to the legal profession.

Canadians have better to watch their backs. The Libs will allow Harper to enforce his will. Only then they will stand up and say "we told you so". The liberals can win the hand at our peril. They know they were voted out and the Conservatives not voted in. They just have to teach us a lesson by allowing the Conservatives to do the things we fear of them. They may go as far as to not interfere with Harpers plan to send troops to Iraq (maybe even Iran). A lesson stern enough to convince Canadians to cause the Conservatives to close their door once more.

Verry interesting boflaade, we will need to stay tuned to see what unfolds. You could well be right there. My fear though, is that any move to Iraq or elsewhere will be in response to a "terrorist" attack on Candian soil thereby absolving Harper of responsibility, in the no choice but to go scenario.

That is sort of true, but keep an eye on '<a href="http://www.howdtheyvote.ca">www.howdtheyvote.ca</a>' Especially in a minority government and without a leader the liberals have all kinds of pressures. However, if things go badly, then the liberals have a lot of explaining to do to their constituency: "yes, I voted for that bill, but you see it was just to show canadians how bad the conservatives are!" That's not something that goes over real well. But like I see, keep checking howdtheyvote, or better yet volunteer. Elections are notoriously lacking in what candidates actually VOTE ON.

As a minority, they wouldn't have to. On vacation, bad back or any excuse for not being there to vote. The Conservatives would even try to push it through WITHOUT the Liberals.

    >>in response to a "terrorist" attack on Candian soil <<

Real or unreal, the stage could be set and the Americans would be certain of an ally under Harper. Would the Americans set such a stage for their needed help?

Is Paul Martin the king of sweatships?
