“The only goal of those who promote the use of Terminator technologies is to prevent farmers from saving and re-using seeds, thereby forcing them to buy seeds on the market each season,” said Atamanenko.
Since 2005, the federal government has been working against global consensus on banning Terminator seeds. It does not recognize the current moratorium and says it will assess the technology on a case-by-case basis – a position which has been rejected by the UN Convention on Biodiversity.
“The international community would rejoice if Canada were to pass this law. We have an opportunity to bring the world a major step closer to eliminating this detestable technology,” concluded Atamanenko. “Judging by the 1,400 letters that my office has received, and which continue to arrive daily, Canadians are spelling it out loud and clear to this government – BAN TERMINATOR!”

Much of this horror is being caused by governments swallowing the neoclassical theory for the destruction of the family farm system and replacing it with "efficient" agribiz monoculture that destroys the soil.
There are no independent studies on the effects of GM, as they're protected by the "intellectual property rights" of the corporations, and nobody can touch them.
This, once again, is a clearcut case of insatiable profit demands overruling logic and the protection of humanity from criminal behavour.
Anybody who produces, or sells, or enforces the sale of GM seeds and foods, should be charged with criminal conspiracy to defraud.
The only solution for the world's food problems is the reinstitution of the organically operating family farm system.
Anybody who doubts this, should read the history of Babylon and all the long dead civilizations in that area. Now the same thing is happening all over the world.
There are news in the media that beef prices are going sky high because of the shortage of animals, meanwhile the controllers of the market are forcing ranchers into bankrupcies and out of beef production, with the conspiracy of lousy prices paid for the animals, while jacking them up in the supermarkets.
This is now called "economic efficiency" by our economists and professors.
