Harper Is Hiding In Plain View

Posted on Wednesday, June 02 at 01:28 by Jim Callaghan
Harper wants a bigger army so he can impress the Americans. Harper has also planned for the largest estimate of the economy to help him pay for things we can't afford today.

He has also entertained the idea of forming a loose alliance (heh heh) with the Bloc. Whoa !!!!

Harper is dangerous, so if you want to vote strategically, vote NDP.

Even Joe Clark says Harper is dangerous !

We've had it up to here with the Cons and the Libs, how about electing a party with some good ideas, some new ideas, and give the country a chance to recover from Mulroney and Chretien.

To paraphrase an old peace movement song, "All we are saying, is give them a chance".

This is actually VERY depressing. Perhaps Martin and Harper are more on the same team than we realize, so the corporate fascists are not concerned who wins, as long as its either the liberals or conservatives. Kerry- Bush. Harper-Martin. Death by hanging- death by firing squad.

Look at the Conservatives first big policy announcement - more money for the military. Okay fine most Canadians would agree with that but... let us remember Harper wrapped himself in the yankee flag, bad-mouthed those who did not want to go to war - namely the citizens of Quebec - and wants to join in with Bush and the US scheme for national missile defence.

Unfortunately - the CONServatives are living up to part of their name - they have a large chunk of the Canadian populace believing in their voodoo economics.

If there was ever a time for Canadians to become pushy - now is the time - for time is running out on this nation called Canada.

What I find most distressing is that Harper is flirting with the idea of forming a coalition with a separtist political party. No dedicated Canadian leader should be fraternising with those who desire the dissolution of the Canadian state. It says a lot about Harper as a Canadian.

I can't believe that Canadians are forgetting that Harper's Cons are as bad as or even worse than Brian Mulroney's PC's.

Come on, people, wake up before it's too late !!

That's just how much he wants the votes. He'll do anything.

Look at his announcement on crime, now he wants a 3-strikes you're out, just like the US.

We'll need more and bigger prisons and let's not forget that every prisoner costs some $50-60K to feed and keep.

    What a boy !!

Harper's vision for Canada is the only one that has any merit. Western alienation, Quebec separatism and even the Atlantic provinces - the provinces bought by the Liberals every election - are becoming more dis-enchanted with interventionist Liberal policies that do more harm than good for their regions. Prime Ministers like Chretien/Martin may be able to dictate federal policy because the poodles in their party have to back them up, but when it comes to Provincial matters the Premiers don't have to listen - this causes a lot of tension that could cause much more harm to Canada in the long term.

The prison plan that Harper bring's is profit for crime. The U.S is set up that way. Corporations make profit from crime. Instead of working towards decrease crime it turns into a system where crime is gone so far and there is so much profit involved, that its almost impossible for the greed from profit to decrease the crime. Its sad.

Harper is hiding everything ! As a working class westerner I can see the writing on the wall , the Guttng of Canada for his American Corporate Buddies , no different then Puppet Klien and the other drunk'n Puppet in BC . It Just amazes me that we as Canadians are that stupid to Fall for the fever pitched hate of the Liberals or should I say Cretin , that we are willing to let The Neo Cons destroy the very fabric of this country for Profit and Greed ! I have been watching alot of Layton on t.v. lately , and My mind is made up ... at least he gives a shit about this country !

Anon, so don't vote Liberal. Paul Martin is either corrupt or grossly incompetent (think about the sponsorship scandal... either he knew what he was signing for, making him corrupt, or he didn't read it, making him an incompetent finance minister).

And don't vote for the Cons because Stephen Harper's goal is to "drop the soap" for the American CEO's. He'd sell the country out the way he sold out Peter Mackay. Why elect a leader who won't publish his intents and plans? The only reason he's not publishing them is because he knows Canadians won't support them.

Support the party with a working plan that represents Canadian values and Canadian sovereignty, a plan that works towards the oil-deprived future. Jack Layton understand economics. He understands global warming and the impending energy shortage. He understands the power of the Canadian people as well as the extent of our national resources. He understands our role as a virtuous world leader rather than a lackay satellite state of the US. We have a visionary running for Prime Minister. This could be the culmination of decades of socialist progression, the election of an NDP leader so competent and intelligent with such a global understanding of Canadian issues. Imagine having a leader who cared about CANADA rather than his rich buddies.

What I say is this: There is a great candidate out there. Why vote for anyone else?

Yeh! And in the event of a minority, we could easily see a Con/Lib coalition to appease the corporate interests for the security of the nation of course!

I think lots of westerners see thorugh Harper. But I am currently re-reading Pierre Burton's The Great Depression, and the unemployed in the 30's were treated harshly by the authorities, simply because average Canadians had the fear of God put into them about "The Red Menace" by the Liberal/Conservatives, and big business of that era. Guess things haven't changed all that much in 75 years.......
