Who Has Bragging Rights On This?

Limbaugh has been promoting the products on his radio show in an attempt to bolster the Bush administration's recent assertions that Camp X-Ray is really a nice place to stay, in the face of critics calling for the camp's closure. Recall that this is the same Rush Limbaugh who last year said the Abu Ghraib prison guards were "just having a good time" and "blowing off some steam." The official official US Army report into Abu Ghraib lists the activities that Limbaugh defines as harmless fun. They include; - Breaking chemical lights and pouring the phosphoric liquid on detainees. - Sodomizing a detainee with a chemical light. - Positioning a naked detainee on a MRE Box, with a sandbag on his head, and attaching wires to his fingers, toes, and penis to simulate electric torture. - Raping children. (SOURCE) - A male MP guard having sex with a female detainee (rape) - Beating detainees to death. (SOURCE) All of the above are great ways to relax according to Rush Limbaugh. Raping children and beating people to death is "harmless fraternity fun." more at: http://www.prisonplanet.com/articles/june2005/200605limbaughplumbs.htm [Proofreader's note: this article was edited for spelling and typos on June 22, 2005]

Rush said that BEFORE The full extent of the claims -- and they are CLAIMS -- became known. Those guilty have been punished. As for G'itmo, these are the people who conspired to fly jets into the Trade Towers. Even the hottest day there is not as hot as in Iraq. Please. It's nice to take unsubstantiated charges, then apply old quotes to them. It's like taking a quote saying the Habs are going to go all the way to the Cup in the early 70s and applying it to their crappy seasons stretching back lo these many years. The treatment they get at G'itmo is not sawing their heads off. If we have to see what's happening to them by a few bad apples, can we PLEASE show the video of Jews like Danny Pearl and Nick Berg having their heads sawn off? If we complain it's a little toasty for the prisoners at G'itmo, can we maybe see how hot it was on the 102nd floor of the WTC and watch the people who jumped TO THEIR DEATHS rather than be burned alive? You make me ashamed to be Canadian.

"As for G'itmo, these are the people who conspired to fly jets into the Trade Towers."

Says who? So far most of the released detainees have been charged with nothing. The only ones charged with anything have been charged with being in the US illegally, or fraud. I'll bet most of these people kidnpped from their own countries had never seen a aircraft before their detention in Cuba, let alone 'conspired to fly jets' anywhere.

Hey, good job on bringing up 9/11 AGAIN as an excuse for whatever the topic happens to be. It has been 4 years; apparently you are unaware that other tragedies have happened, both before and after 9/11. Yes, it sucked. But you and the rest of the USA need to get some therapy and get on with your lives. Until you do, you will sound like every other knee-jerk reactionary out for revenge at all costs. As doctor Caleb pointed out, the people in Gitmo are NOT the same ones who crashed into the WTC. You do not need to take out your feelings of helplessness on them.

Terribly sorry Jesse. I hadn’t realised you had placed a statute of limitations on decency.
I would have expected snide remarks such as yours from the New York Yank.
Hey! Wait a minute! May be you ARE the NYY. You certainly use similar posting tactics of ad hominem’s outrageous bluster and similar piss ant philosophies, and Jesse? Perhaps when god kills a moderator, a few litters of kittens are born.

The article is about the tastelessness of Limbaugh’s commercialising Gitmo’s ‘detainees’
By your weak-assed reasoning Pearl Harbour would also be taboo but if that’s wat blows your skirt up little man, spew on.

What do you expect from a self-made constantly self-promoting radio personality pandering to conservatives' "conservatives." He wants attention that will keep him relevant and special to his special listenership. Sometimes he does make some sense and will provide a bit of novel thought but 97% of it is pandering plain and infantile baiting, plain and simple. Do you think he'd sell T shirts addressing his prescription drug proclivities? Personally I wish they could give him just a little prison time because of that stuff. Methinks, it may well work wonders on the hypocracy problem the man suffers. PS there is a precident for it with one former state attorney general in America who will remain nameless.

Not sure how I managed to offend you Dio. I was referring to the post which brought up 9/11 even though, as you rightly pointed out, this is an article about tasteless commercialisation. There is no statute of limitations on decency; but there is a point at which bringing up an attack from 4 years ago no longer gets you any sympathy. Screaming "9/11! 9/11!" every time someone questions your country *is* a knee-jerk reaction used to distract from the real issue; there's nothing ad hominem about it.

And you are exactly right, I do not think that the US should use Pearl Harbour as an excuse for their descent into despotism either.

Hey Jesse, The offence taken is solely my responsibility and was due to my lack of full attention on the matter.
I now understand the point I missed and agree when used as an excuse for the thin thinking used in the manner you describe

9/11 "sucked." Wow, was the mudering of the Jews a "bummer" or did it rise to the level of "downer"? Three THOUSAND people died, and they'd hoped to kill up to 250,000! It's not something one needs "therapy" from unless you'd look to the past rather than prepare for the next attack. It was not an isolated incident. They would kill millions if they could and seek to. If you're worried about knee-jerk, how about the knee-jerk reaction so many Canadians up here have to anything America does? It's not enough to be defined as Not America. As for who says they were the people, um, the guy admitted it.

Qahtani, the 20th hijacker, was caught coming in the US and was slated to fly the jets into the Towers. We shouldn't shoot the messenger here or let hate colour our opinions. The innocent should well be set free, however, these are people taken in battle in arms against the US. If they were as evil as everyone here seems to suspect, they'd have shot them in the head. If they have information on a terrorist attack, it's morally rephrehensible to free them to carry it out. A few minor techniques are a lot more reasonable than what they subject their own people to. Witness the "honor killings" across the Mideast.

These Islamofascists seek to impose Islamic law on the entire world. If you think they're going to stop at the 49th Parallel just becuase you say, "Hey, we think America sucks too. Good riddence to bad rubbish," please, I respectuflly ask you to think it through.

By the way, hello, CANADIAN posted that. Is anyone who disagrees with you automatically an "American"? Must everything be a knee-jerk with-us-or-against-us? No one's looking for "sympathy" in the US from what I've seen. What they're looking for is a realization of the threat, much the same thing that we wanted from Americans before Pearl Harbor drew them into the war. Then, they didn't recognize the threat. Today, I fear it's we who do not.

Will they deliver these T-shirts to Canada? How about a link to a site where we can order them?

Guantanamo and Abu Gharib are concentration camps. The uS government knew that Sept. 11 was coming, and did nothing, because they certainly needed a new Pearl Harbour in order to push even more fascism. And it is a shame that the US population are constantly kept terrorized by their own government. Orange alert, yellow alert, plaid alert, OH NO! Osama`s comin` to git ya!!! Boy, you and I couldn`t hide if we were the world`s most wanted fugitive. But Osama, well, let`s just say I`m getting tired of laughing at the same joke over and over- Bin Laden seen riding on camel back on the border of Afghanistan and Pakistan, Bin Laden in and out of Iraq, Bin laden in and out of Iran. What`s next? Elvis seen on Ellesmere Island? Hitler on Hans Island? Maude Barlow selling weapons to penguins in Antarctica!

The only thing that is going to yank your heads out of asses is to have a 9/11 on your soil, killing your people. I never thought I would wish that on my worst enemy, but watching someone you know or love leaping to his or her death or video of someone you knew plowing into the side of a sky scraper is the only way you are going to be smacked out of your miserable little fools paradises. Those in gitmo are obviously not the ones who flew the airplanes of terrified people into buildings of terrified people, they are dead, they just fought to protect the monsters who conceived and committed that crime, which makes them just as guilty. They have had their military tribunals, which is more then Canadian law would have offered them. Mind your own fucked up country instead of someone else’s.

I really hate the kind of stupid, insensitive, narcissistic, selfish, unimaginative mentality that could chime in with the notion that: “Yes, it sucked. But you and the rest of the USA need to get some therapy and get on with your lives.” I hope someone somewhere gets to straighten you out.

I am truly amazed you haven’t drowned in your own bile.
To diminish in any way the deaths on September eleven is crass in the extreme, for you or anyone to wish that on others is the mark of mind so damaged by those events that you have lost all reason.
The self-righteous tone of your posts deserves only pity.
“Mind your own fucked up country instead of someone else’s”
The locked in either or thinking you display is a sure sign of a damaged mind and that mind now requires healing.
I am sorry for your loss of loved ones and friends, and sorrier for you and the bitterness you now hold as a demented badge of honour
