Business is only interested in profits. Besides the PR campaign on ethics, morals and environmental goals and compliance's. One wonders why Government officials still fall or blindly, like a Ostridge, fight for the old routine of Business regulating itself with the general populace paying the price in recovery.

As to the references to the United States of America the facts are at best not accurate in regards to most States. Having laws that aren't enforceable, lacking the man power to enforce the laws that are enforceable and citations that are pocket change to the offenders hardly amount to environmental correctness when the damage is already done with the public footing the bill to recover and correct what is left to recover. I personally like what Washington State has done and continues to do by regulating business, but listen to business wine about cost and lost profits.

The U.S.A. has created their environmental problems because profit and exploiting the most out their resources was all that mattered.

Canada has to do it different and also must protect against and prevent foreign companies, head offices and Governments from doing what they did in their countries or influence our laws to be weakened instead of making them stronger.

Under Mike Harris, Ontario went from having one of the best environmental records out of the provinces and states to having the 3rd worst- with only Texas and Pennsylvania beating Ontario out. And under chapter 11 of NAFTA, Ontario or any other jurisdiction can`t reverse the damage caused by destroying what was once progressive policy.
