Lions Head is a small village on the Bruce Peninsular north of Owen Sound, Ontario. Port Elgin is a small community on Ontarios Sunset Coast just west of Owen Sound.
A fund raising Dinner will be held Saturday evening with proceeds going to the Grey-Bruce-Owen Sound Greens. She says if we cannot grow our food in our own country and pay the people who grow it a living wage, then we are undercutting our own future and also warns about the loss of the family farm, and the increasing involvement of big business in the agricultural sector.
She also says her party is committed to phasing out nuclear in Canada but that they would not shut down Bruce Power right away!
May also wants to see the electoral system changed so some form of proportional representation can be set up. She says under that system the Green Party would have elected 10 MP to sit in the commons.

Hmmmm, apart from phasing out the only way we are supplying enough hydro to keep the lights on, I cant disagree with her. I thought that was a Provincial mandate but perhaps she is suggesting a National energy policy, wouldnt that be new?

She says meeting our Kyoto commitment is the key issue of federal Green Party, if we lose the Western Antarctic Ice Sheet or the Greenland Ice Sheet and we have a 7 meter sea level rise globally, we could lose every coastal city.
May says this is an even bigger problem than Afghanistan. She says unlike the NDP, the Green Party feels the Canadian troops should stay, only in a different role. The troops are needed to bring in the security for the schools and the hospitals, The Taliban will assassinate school teachers that teach girls how to read and they need protection.
I do hope that with a well known environmentalist at the helm that the Greens will continue to broaden their platform and let us know where they stand on other issues. Does anyone know if anything about this convention was reported in the MSM or are the little partys being ignored again?
