    And I quote:

"Direct competition from U.S. channels would dilute what Canadian broadcasters such as CanWest Global Communications Corp., owner of National Post, could charge for advertising.

"It would be huge," Mr. Bayard said. "It wouldn't be good news for anyone in the industry."

The cable industry supports the Conservative call to deregulate but sees no need to blow up the CRTC to do it."
    ******************************

Could it be that Canwest doesn't want to see their revenues fall ?? Amazing !

What other reason would we see Canwest go against this part of the Cons agenda ??

The cable companies can go away, I like Starchoice, and there are those that like Bell ExpressVu.

Could there be a split in the right ??? Goooood !

Personally, I do not watch sit-coms, I do watch CNN, but mostly my time is spent reading and watching special events, such as the debate.

I do watch a lot of CPAC these days, and I try to call in with my opinion.

    Try that with DirectTV !!

Come on, Canada ! Stand up and tell Harper to please slink away in the night so we don't have to throw him out of office like we did bullroney and harris.

When will the right get the message ??

    Jim,

Just moments ago it was nice to see about 5 minutes on CBC that talked about "Concerned Canadians" who sent a letter to Mr. Harper to reconsider his policies and also be honest with Canadians what his plans are with the CRTC.

They interviewed R. H Thompson who is an actor for American show's. As a Canadian he is concerned of what these Mr. Harper policies will mean. His worried about Canada's sovreignty.

Is this (somewhat) like Marx's vision of the world when the capitalists would hang themselves on their own excesses? I mean, we'd have to get to the end of the world before we can have a "worker's revolution" or whatever, when we'd get real communism. What I'm thinking of has nothing to do with that, but there's kind of an analogy there. I mean in Canada, things must get so bad, and the country has to be almost completely dismantled before people start realize what's happening and do something about it. It's nothing at all like what Marx wrote about, but it's kind of analogy. People are only beginning to wake up though. The NEXT election is the one where the people will make a lot of noise for sure! www.freenation.ca <P> The sort of thing that Harper is planning is exactly what the US has wanted for ages, like wiping out the Canadian Wheat Board, the health system, probably Canada Post, etc etc. I'm reading Bill Blum's (excellent) Killing Hope which is the definitive documentary record of CIA & US militay interventions since WWII, where he writes that the CIA had supported many many political parties in Europe during the Cold War and financed newspapers, through various front organisations. It wouldn't surprise me in the least if the Conservative Party (& probably the liberal Party & many newspapers) was financed & managed in part by a CIA front or 2 based in Canada. After all, why should Canada be treated any different from Italy, France, West Germany, etc etc??<p>---<br>"These Yankee politicians are the lowest race of thieves in existence." - Sir John Sparrow Thompson
