“They have high hopes and high expectations for the new government,” said David Herle, partner at polling firm Gandalf Group.
The Report on Business C-Suite Survey was done between Feb. 16 and March 9 and targeted executives from companies in the Report on Business magazine Top 1000 ranking.
The survey was conducted for ROB and Report on Business Television by The Gandalf Group, and sponsored by KPMG and law firm Davies Ward Phillips & Vineberg.
Many executives said in recent interviews they have grown more optimistic as the Harper government settles into office.

now we gotta get some of those military contracts up here in canada,i hear the business groups saying.
Harper's economic views are identical to theirs. He has shown them that he can put the wants of corporate Canada before democratic values by selecting their representatives for his cabinet even if they could not get elected as Conservatives. While the CEOs might prefer the Liberal day care plan and public health care, both of which are politics designed to externalize costs for business, they can live with the Conservative policies as long as they get their tax cuts to increase profits, decentralization of power, deep continental integration, and privatization.
