Other larger but more primitive nations will attack us if they believe that we will not use atomic bombs, which they also have. The attacks will be in a disguised form: some from treasonous citizens, silent invasion, industrial copyright, patent and technology theft - and eventually military invasion if we resist peaceful invasion.
We can avoid "total war" only if we demonstrate we are ready and willing to defend our country. This is not a liberal or conservative issue. If our nation and form of government is to survive our leaders must avoid little private wars and keep us prepared to win both and economic and military war without massive atomic destruction.
How do we who are just trying to survive and care for our families have control over this process?
Consider this: if we cast our votes for candidates based on these issues only will it make our nation secure? You know the answer.
Such issues are carefully contrived to create conflict between individuals, political parties and racial groups. Of course, you are told that you must vote for one of these groups. Bull!

preserving our nuclear secrets and technology. We are now aware that many,
less civilized nations can now wage nuclear war. The more civilized nations
will now do everything possible to prevent the use of atomic bombs in real
war. This moves us back to World War II basic military standards of conflict,
plus more sophisticated standard weapons."
"Less civilized nations", a myth I truly am repulsed by everytime someone
expands on it as something no one would find offensive and is just "fact".
Rubbish! Who decides what civilized is anyway? For ONE example, Canada,
France and the USofA's behaviour towards Aristide in Haiti was completly
UNCIVILIZED thank you very much.
It's hard to read on when such statements are made, because it only shows
how brainwashed we all are to either make those statements without flinching
or read them without doing the same. So, how many other statements are we
making or reading that are the same kind of rubbish?

I would expect that in a measure of a nations civility, a very low score would be assigned to those nations whose people are intensely paranoid of other nations, have a supremacy complex, are perpetually fighting a "War on [insert bullshit here]", have leaders that are psychopathic liars, thieves, war criminals, and hypocrites, and have the worlds highest incarceration rate per capita.
"We are the envy of the world."
Yes, we are ever so envious, which is why we prefer to live in Canada, eh?

You also forgot to mention that "Civilized Nations" do
not have barbaric and inhumane laws like the death
penalty. Today, if a nation is wealthy and has power, it
can fake being "civilized".
You know, simple things like looking out for your neighbour, saying "please" and "thank you".
Things like maybe remaining patient when a new driver is getting use to the road instead of flipping them the bird for being slower than you'd like.
Finding a wallet, and actually LEAVING the money in it before returning it.
Things like not tossing your garbage out the window when you're on a road trip.
You know, things that drive neo-con types absolutely batty.
Then again, maybe I'm alone in the point of view.
