Montrealers Close Down US Consulate

Posted on Sunday, April 25 at 15:13 by 4Canada
Five organisations - Block the Empire Montreal, Canadian Muslim Forum, Iraq Solidarity Project, Parole Arabe, and Voices of Conscience - came together for the first time to plan the interruption of business as usual at the imperial outpost. The Canadian government having failed to condemn the war crimes and the illegal occupation of Iraq, it is left to us to respond. We lay seige to the consulate and break the guilty silence with anti-war music and the protest of our pots and pans orchestra, slogans and drums. A security agent who works at the building tells us that only a few consulate staff have showed up because of the shut-down.

Anti-Americanism disguised as a holier-than-thou peace protest complete with false figures, allegations and touchy-feely poems, what a righteous, noble bunch... of hypocrites. The Americans are working hard to re-build Iraq as a free and democratic society, they are doing the hard work of nation-building and paying for it. These protesting hypocrites, comfortably protected in Canada(which is protected by the U.S.A.), would do nothing to make the whole world a safer place. There are many conflicts going on in the world right now where the reality is that thousands of people are dying, do these hypocrites mention even one? No. Why are none of these hypocrites acting as 'human shields' in Sudan? Because they could care less that black Africans are being slaughtered by the Arab government. Millions could potentially starve to death in Zimbabwe because they belong to an ethnic group not favoured by Robert Mugabe - do these hypocrites care? No. Because it doesn't suit their Anti-American agenda. Saddam Hussein was a threat to the entire region and a global threat, he did give big money to Palestinian terrorists. The world is a safer place with him gone. Of course Islamic fundamentalists are trying to control Iraq, they vehemently oppose individual freedom and think everyone should live by the decree of the clerics. It's amazing that in North America the same people who oppose any hint of christian fundamentalism wholeheartedly support Islamic fundamentalism, a religion that would execute them.

While you make some points anon, you must acknowledge that a country that considers itself the world policeman must take responsibility for situations that take a turn for the worse when they have interfered/created the situation.

It is probable that Muslim countries will become less violent after they undergo a sort of "Modernization" process. Also. remeber that European countries are being given a way to avoid being targeted, which is to stop interfering in Muslim countries....so I guess they won't
kill EVERYONE they consider infidels. :)

-P.S. -Looks like Montreal doesn't want U.S. influences affecting their affairs......one more reason for Quebec not to separate.

I honestly don`t know how you can say that the US is trying to build democracy in Iraq! Most of the world sees through that by now!

Correction: The Americans are working hard to re-build Iraq as a revenue producing colony.

Amen about Quebec. We need to encourage the type of action taken by these creative Montrealers.

I can see why you chose to remain anonymous, I wouldn't want my name associated with that piece of prejudicial propaganda that you supposedly wrote either.

It is good that those brave souls in Montreal took some action against the military madness. Encore! Vive le Montreal!

Canada(which is protected by the U.S.A.),

Personally, I would feel much better about being 'protected' by a country that can keep its own citizens safe first. I mean, if the USA can't keep Anthrax and plane hijackings from happening in their own cities, how can they expect to protect foreign countries like Canada?

---
Jesse
Hey! This is my first post here and I'm really enjoying this website.

anon said this, " These protesting hypocrites, comfortably protected in Canada(which is protected by the U.S.A.)"

Who exactly is the USA protecting us from? Why do I always here this? This is simple. The majority of the world likes Canada. The majority or probably all of the world hates the USA. The USA is not protecting us from anyone. They just brainwash you into thinking that we are in the same boat with them.

Hey Zimm welcome to the site. I agree with your post it is the media spin, 'poor whimpy Canada sitting up there in their igloos while the good ole U.S.A. protects them from all their enemies' But they never say who these enemies are, and they are hoping to lump us all together that is why they are promoting the Missile Defence Plan to protect all of us from the enemies they will continue to create! I think there is a better plan, let's make friends instead of enemies...ah shucks that would be too easy and there is no profit in that!

You have to be kidding, the US defender of democracy, I look back to a recent pass and the hypocrisy is in the eye of you know who. Saddam no doubt was a bad dude but he was siting on a pot that had a much more dangerous menace boiling. Anybody with half a brain would have seen this coming. The US had the world in its hand after 9/11, I was even wearing a United We Stand T-shirt. Along with the rest of the world the US could have tried to clean up the world from these blood thirsty barbaric idiots still living 2000 years behind and blaspheming their god by committing in his name the worse cruelties even murder while the rest of the flock gives them support by their silence.
