Harper's Cuts Total 7 Billion !

Posted on Friday, June 18 at 14:01 by Jim Callaghan
For Harper, his claim that he can balance the books with tax cuts and selective spending increases is one of the most controversial issues in the election. Liberal leader Paul Martin talks of a "$50 billion black hole" over the coming years between what Harper claims he can generate in income versus expenses. And many top economists, some with deep Conservative ties, are dismissing Harper's platform as financially unworkable.

What's critical in this debate is that Harper fails to mention that for his fiscal plan to work, it would require deep cuts in everything from food inspections to federal prisons and Canada's space program.

From the article: In magnitude alone, those inevitable cuts constitute a big surprise. But voters should also be aware of the specific areas where the cuts would have to be made. Within the table's "all other programs" category are: Agriculture, including the Canadian Food Inspection Agency; Heritage, which includes the CBC and all of Canada's major museums; Citizenship and Immigration; the Canadian Human Rights Commission; Environment; Fisheries and Oceans; Foreign Affairs and foreign aid; Indian Affairs; the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission; the Canadian Space Agency; Statistics Canada; the Supreme Court of Canada; the Canadian Security Intelligence Service; federal prisons and the RCMP.

Well it looks like we won't have to worry about these areas, say we have the FBI,CIA and Texas Marshalls' to look after the previous IA, Stats Can, Supreme Court and CSIS, prisons and RCMP...wow look at the downsizing; Nuclear Safety ...who needs it, we'll be into Star Wars by then and there'll be nothing safe...Human Rights?, oh go on with you...Immigration ? why? Environment and agriculture is already well influenced by the U.S. so why not the agencies?

Yep looks like Harper's plan will work and save us a whole lot of money...not to mention the entire country...but whatever...as Harper says, 'who cares'....

The reply is not working properly on this thread. Anyway I made a reply on the wrong link so will make it again here now.

    Whelan,

That's pretty much how read this article too. If we're integrated there will be no need for duplicate security etc... . It's easy to understand why Harper is not making a living as an economist. He's much better as a used country salesman.

Oh, but what does it matter to vive users, though, right? After all LIberals and Conservatives are all the same and i'm sure the Liberals would ruin the economy, cut taxes, shrink the federal government and devolve most federal powers to the provinces evem though there's absolutely no evidence the Liberals would such things. But let's just shutour eyes to the facts and lump everyone together in the same category because we don't like the Liberal's foreign policy. To hell with critical thought and analysis I say.

Based on the facts, we have accurately criticized both the conservatives and liberals. It`s like being told, " You will be executed. Choose the mode of death between being infected with SARS, or Ebola." So that is the limited choice one faces if they have tunnel vision and only see the Fibs and Cons horse, er, jackass race! Both parties are corporate fascist American sellouts! It`s not all that difficult to see!
