U.S. Icebreakers Urged For Arctic Waters

Posted on Thursday, September 28 at 09:23 by jensonj
"There is no other platform that can do this. We've looked at the submarines and they can be very, very helpful. But we need the icebreaker platforms to make this a go." The United States has not ratified the convention which recognizes the 370-kilometre exclusive economic zone off a country's coast. American vessels have made at least three incursions into the Northwest Passage without informing Canada, most recently in 1995, when a U.S. navy submarine travelled through the waters. Prime Minister Stephen Harper has promised to increase military spending in the Far North and build a deep-sea port to assert control over the area in light of wide interest in the area's vast natural resources. http://cnews.canoe.ca/CNEWS/Canada/2006/09/27/pf-1906339.html

Does this mean the US scientists are now suggesting that the US invade Canada? When the US politicians take this bait, who knows what may happen. One if these days, US generals and admirals may join the choir.

Is this what the profession of political science has come to - doing science for political purposes?

Prime Minister Stephen Harper defending Canada's sovereignty issues is the biggest B.S. story connected to this story. He and his party undermines the sovereignty of this country with its foreign policy allowing the United States of America’s Government, a foreign Government and a foreign people, control over Canada’s Business, economical, financial and political governance.

The United States has never recognized anyone's sovereignty other then it’s own especially Canada's.

The U.S. didn't like Canadians when they didn't do as they were told and tow the U.S. political line before and they have even less respect for us when our Prime Minister Stephen Harper turns Canada's sovereignty over to the U.S.A. piece by piece.

This shows the anti-Canadian attitude in the United States of America’s Administration that Canada can not exercise its democratic rights and operate freely without fear because it has not gotten approval from or risking offending our neighbor / friend / family to the south of us.

This again shows that looking after our own domestic markets first as well as having a diversified foreign trade with other countries other then the United States, will Canada be able to enforce a level playing field with outside markets and free trade agreements with the United States along with getting a loyal Pro Canadian Prime Minister.

Isn't that the case. He is suppose to have such a report with Bush and one may wonder why it is then, that he can't just tell his buddy Bush how things are to be. The fellowship dosen't envolve the rights of Canada nor Canadas well being. At least Harper continues to prove what the rest of us know and Americans disrespect for Canada.
