As we will see, the BIS was founded in 1930 during a very troubled time in history. Some knowledge of that history is critical to understanding why the BIS was created, and for whose benefit.

The Bank For International Settlements

A sibling of the IMF, the World Bank was born out of the U.N. Monetary and Financial Conference at Bretton Woods, New Hampshire in July 1944. The original name given to the World Bank was the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD) and reflects its original mission: to rebuild Europe after the devastation of World War II. The name "World Bank" was not actually adopted until 1975.

The IMF was actually created in December 1945 when the first 29 member nations signed its Articles of Agreement, and began operations on March 1, 1947. (Note: there are 184 member countries today.)

    Good post, so we screwed what is new. So this global bank is similar to what Gene Amdahl did when he commercialize wafer scale integration and build supercomputers. He grew bigger faster and stronger.

    This is a good post Milton. Thanks. I haven't had a chance to read all three but I have downloaded them to read to Mr. 4Canada and myself on our commutes.

    Some of this information is similar to research Stephen Staples has published for Ceasefire.ca magazine.
