NAFTA Has Downside, Hillary Clinton Tells Forum

"Now we are seeing it with the loss of jobs going north," she told the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees. She said she spoke recently to a United Auto Workers member from the auto plant in Wicom, Mich., who told her it's shutting down and some of the work is going to Mexico. "But some of the high-value work is going to Canada because of lower health care costs. So some of what has happened with NAFTA is because of NAFTA, but some of what is attributed or blamed on NAFTA has other contributing causes as well." Clinton, who failed during her husband's two-term presidency to push through universal health care in country where 45 million people don't have coverage, is raising new proposals for reform. It was Bill Clinton who signed off on NAFTA. http://cnews.canoe.ca/CNEWS/Canada/2007/06/19/pf-4273694.html

"the impact of North American free trade is mixed and Americans are losing jobs to Canadians because Canada has lower health-care costs."

"There are some positive effects from the North American Free Trade Agreement, said Clinton, but jobs are going south to Mexico and beyond."

Which is is, Ms. Clinton? Losing jobs to Canada, Mexico or China?

I just watched 'SiCKO'. I have no respect for the sellout Ms. Clinton. She's so firmly in the HMO's pocket, it's a wonder many Americans aren't rioting in the streets with the way their government has been turned into a fascist state. And, yes, it's facist by definition - as Business Lobbyists now have more sway in Government than do citizens.

This shows that the U.S.A. doesn't want and can't play on a level playing field as well that they are never satisfied until all the eggs are in their basket.

The main mark of modern govenments is that we do not know who governs, de facto any more than de jure. We see the politician and not his backer; still less the backer of the backer; or, what is more important of all, the banker of the backer.
