US Dismisses Iran Attack Claims

Posted on Monday, April 10 at 12:35 by jensonj
The US has previously refused to rule out military action, but Mr Bartlett said again that the US was committed to a diplomatic solution on the issue of Iran's nuclear development. HAVE YOUR SAY Some people are afraid the president will want to go - just as he wanted to go on Iraq Seymour Hersh UK Foreign Secretary Jack Straw said talk of a US nuclear strike was "completely nuts". Iran has branded the reports as a "psychological war launched by Americans because they feel angry and desperate regarding Iran's nuclear dossier". About 3 years ago I met an Iranian on a job site. Even back then I had read about the U.S. thinking about an attack on Iran. I had mentioned it to him and he burst out laughing. He said, "You mark my words, the U.S. will never attack Iran." When I asked why, he wouldn't say.

Now there is talk of imposing sanctions on Iran instead of attacking. That would make sense, knowing that the U.S. could never hope to win a war with them right now. By imposing sanctions it will stop them from selling their own oil, which will destablize and weaken them as a nation. That will give the U.S about 10 years before they go in. We all know they would never attack a country that might be able to hold their own, first you break them down....

It's an interveiw of Jorge Hirsch who has writen an artical for the New Yorker, April 17th addition. It's titled "Nuke Iran" and gives reasonable thought to why and how the US will infact go ahead with the plan. The plan to nuke Iran or any country with conventional weapons using nuclear power, was made by changes to their policy in 2001.
---
Expect little from life and get more from it.

Using a Nuke as a first strike weapon is pretty much a 'show stopper'. Any credibility, and hope the US had of being seen as 'the good guys' would dissappear in that same radioactive cloud.

I still don't believe it would happen.

But, has anyone considered that all this sabre rattling's sole purpose is to drive up the price of oil?

I listened to a progam on CBC radio. Questions were being asked why Canada would release prisoners to the Afghan Army if it was evident the prisoner would be tortured. The Genève convention disallows any Canadian solder to do just that. The program progressed to the point that Canada could not send any prisoners to the Americans, as they are known to torture prisoners. A Canadian solder could actualy be charged, because the convention and Canada do not recognize the term "Non Combatant". I don't think there is a good guy status anymore.
I believe Iran has known for a while of the Americans intentions. At this point they are indicating that they will not be left undefended like Iraq. Iraqs invasion has put all the enemies of Bush, on guard. The US knows their next invasion will not be a pushover and consequently will attack unannounced and so hard, that itwill be to late for intervention.

The "Saber Rattling" has only been about oil.

It's not about the physical product 'Oil'. It's all about which currency is going to be the 'Petro-Dollar'. It was the reason for the Iraq invasion, and it will/is the reason for the invasion of Iran.
