Cattlemen Buoyed By Decision

Posted on Friday, August 31 at 10:43 by jensonj
The news cheered Canadian cattle producers, who have lost billions of dollars because of slumping prices and reduced marketing options since the BSE crisis hit in 2003. "We're pretty happy about the announcement... It's definitely a really positive thing for the Canadian cattle industry," said Martin Unrau, president of the Manitoba Cattle Producers Association. Now, the industry is turning its attention to a White House group that is said to be putting the finishing touches on a new regulation that would open the border to Canadian cattle over 30 months of age for the first time in more than four years. http://www.winnipegfreepress.com/subscriber/business/local/story/4030754p-4641555c.html

Its about time! Boy all these years have been a real test of emotions on the topic, now all they have to do is deal with the national milk producers federation, & the line is open.
To bad the canadian rancher & dairymen had to put up with this form of protectionism, & they had all their records in order , & in the usa... what records... maby the next thing to come to pass is the Radio frequency Identity tags, & the usa will be comming into the system of verification. No more slipshod records, it'll be interesting in the comming years.

Lets remember that the same concerned U.S. citizens that pushed for the ban are the same ones that purchased the $1500.00 a head cattle in Canada for next to nothing and kept them at feeder lots until the border opened again.

WAS THERE REALLY A THREAT OR WERE THEY JUST DOING US A FAVOUR?
