Majority Of Canadians Want Two-Tier Healthcare

Posted on Wednesday, June 02 at 15:01 by Jim Callaghan
In 30 countries that he studied, he found that those that had two-tier healthcare were actually allowing the private corporations to skim the cream off the top, undermining the publicly funded system.

Perhaps we have too many Canadians that don't know the issues, or we have too many people with too much money, and the greed is starting to show.

If you have that much money, why not donate some to the the healthcare system we already have ?

What is it about private healthcare that makes people think it's the best thing since sliced bread ?

According to Richard Gwyn's aticle (link), it's not so much that Canadians want a two-tier HEALTH system; they want to get rid of two-tier GOVERNMENT. You know, the one that says one thing and does another. Consequently, because an increasing numbver of Canadians no longer trust government to manage the affairs of the nation with the interests of the citizens in mind, they (we) are actually saying: "Hey! I can use my own money much better than you can, thank you very much!" That's no where near the same as saying we actually want a two-tier health system.

I submitted this same item yesterday, i wished the site editor would've posted my submission instead.

Read a little more carefully please. Listen, that story was originally printed by the National Post on June 1. The poll was commissioned by the Montreal Economic Institute, a very right wing think tank. THe results are more than likely skewed. The poll question itself was very ambiguous. If the site editor is reading this message, please post the link to the national post story. I included it in my submission. In the article the original poll question is also included. I did a search for the story on nationalpost.com but either the search engine is crap or they don't archive all stories.

Roy Romanow's report was a complete waste of time and money. He should never have been paid to push the Liberals tax and spend agenda forward in the first place - the fact that the report is gathering dust reveals that even the Liberals know it's a load of fantasy.

AGREED! The government knew that Canadians wanted a total public health care system, but Chretien didn`t have the backbone to do it, so he wasted more time and money making it look like he was fixing the problem.

It should be mandatory, that when the results of a polling are released to the public, the question asked in order to arrive at a published conclusion, should also be made public. For about three years after my retirement from a life-time job, I, and an acquaintance did polling for the same organization. We found it amusing to say the least, that the both of us almost invariably could predict quite accurately, on the basis of the questions asked, and how they were arranged within the poll, the results of the poll.
