Nato Is Expanding - Why ?

Posted on Tuesday, March 30 at 08:05 by Jim Callaghan
To me, this is money down the drain, we only have so many resources, and spending them on similar but separate groups seems counter-productive. As I understand it, the US controls NATO, and it was formed to protect all members, so that if one member was attacked, that would be seen as an attack on all members, and they would all retaliate. Seems a little out of date.

anytime you add more members to any outfit - their total voice becomes less. That could be a good thing when it comes to America and England trying to convince the other NATO members to join them in further middle east adventures.

Russia as well is not very pleased - and rightfully so. Would America be pleased if Mexico suddenly joined Russia in a military pact?

    Jim,

The US is running NATO, but they'd rather not have anything to do with the UN so in this way they can undermine the UN. DYT? (Don't you think?)
