Cop Wins RCMP Settlement After Search By US Troopers

Last spring, Laing was driving on a highway near Hope. He turned a corner and a man in an orange traffic vest in the middle of the road motioned him to pull over. In a heavy Texas accent, the man asked for Laing's identification. Laing asked if the man was an American. The man answered that he was, and that he was performing a B.C. road check. "I said, are you a police officer? Who are you to be detaining me?"...snip snip...RCMP spokesperson Const. John Ward says the Texas troopers profiling program provides great help to the Mounties. "The Americans do a lot of this and have been doing it for quite some time. So there's a lot of opportunity on both sides of the border to become closer." Laing and his lawyer disagree. They say that when it comes to narcotics, American attitudes and Canadian laws are quite different. "We have different freedoms than they have," Laing says. "You don't want to mesh too much. You don't want your police meshing to the point where we start taking on other police jurisidiction's policies." full article: http://vancouver.cbc.ca/regional/servlet/View?filename=bc_troopers20050128 [Proofreader's note: this article was edited for spelling and typos on February 3, 2005]

Can you imagine what'd happen in reverse? <p>"RCMP pulls over Texas motorist near Crawford, gropes her young child. Postcards of his bullet-ridden carcass dangling from the local tree are available in the lobby." <p>They'd spray Krispi Krunch snot at the mere suggestion, and IMO rightly so. Yet the cuckoos we leave in charge of this country just shrug tell us to get used to it. What The Fuck!?!? <p>Canada always turns out to be in worse shape than even I think it is...it'll make a secessionist out of me yet.

Sounds like a similar story of my own. Accept it was a Canadian cop (O.P.P) who did an illegal search for the same non scientific suspicious.

Turns out I could have sued them for that illegal search. I was encouraged to file a complaint with the chief officer. But I realize that would have just put me in their bad books.

    typical CBC Hegelian dialectic story

Problem - apparent (lol) cross border jurisdiction infringement by USA/Canadian cops

Reaction - Oh my gawd, do something!

Solution - yeah, we want to write some rules to enshrine this process, cause Nationalism is not part of the New World Order playbook. Total world domination from New York or London or TelAviv... Ottawa or Provincial Capitols gonna be great tourist towns, full of museums where former legislators used to work.

Evidence? Nationalism is actually experiencing quite an upswing in popularity. If you think the globalists are going to succeed, kindly provide a link so we can view the evidence.

Send these fascist pigs home! And I think it`s time to fight back, even if you land in the cop`s 'bad books.' Obviously, you don`t get boisterous with the cops, just stay calm, know your rights, and assert them! Why are we importing these SS wannabe`s in the first place?

This story just makes me sick. Not to mention we have the DEA now stationed in Vancouver. It's time we send these Americans home we can take care of our own problems thank you very much.

What worries me is the only reason we're hearing about this is because they pulled ovre an actual Canadian cop, who is sure of the law and his rights and therefore knows when and how to be assertive and can get heard. If this is happening to other Canadians who may not think about the differences between Canadian and American laws etc, or may not be clear enough on their rights to protest, or hav the credibility of a police officer and the money for a lawyer, we won't know about it. I'm all for backing Laing in whatever action he continues to take on this.

This is absurd, if the U.S. is so much better at drug control, why aren't they doing it at home? I think it is part of the get used to it idea, people don't speak up and it becomes the norm. This is a very serious problem in my opinion, and really shouldn't be allowed to just go away. By what authority were they brought in to Canada in the first place?

Oh, no doubt, this isn`t about exchanging ideas on policing- its about desensitizing Canadians to American fascist law! I agree with Susan, we should find a way to back Laing!
